Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Windy, Wintry, Stormy

Good (yawn!) Monday Morning,

I’m filling in for Steve this morning for Fox and Friends at the weather wall. How do they do it? I’m amazed at their energy every morning at 6am!

I didn’t get much sleep last night because of the relentless wind here in the northeast. It howled all night. My husband was working an overnight tour, so I was like a 7 year old kid with the pillows around my head to try and block the scary winds. (The teddy bear helps too…. :)

At around 2pm yesterday the “sideways” snow rolled in making New Yorkers flee from the streets. In a word – it was nasty! Major car accidents all across the northeast yesterday and the bitter cold winds will make for a grumpy travel Monday. Flights could be delayed from Chicago to New York up to Boston, so keep that in mind if you are taking to the skies today. Missouri, Kansas and Illinois will also be monitored for more wintry weather.

With the cold air in place, any moisture that makes its way into the central plains will freeze – so we could see a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow mainly south of I-70. The Ohio Valley could get up to 6 inches of snow with several inches piling up over Chicago. Downwind of the Great Lakes, over a foot will be possible.

We also need to monitor the next storm system that will bring the slight risk of severe weather today and tomorrow for the south including areas that were hit hard by that tragic tornado outbreak last week. The last thing those poor people need is more severe weather.

In other news, this is kind of how I feel this morning…how ’bout you?

Yup…that is how I feel too…
We are waiting to hear if they are going to delay our shipment of seedlings this week (often times when its this cold they will wait to lessen the chance of them freezing..which is fine for us…)

…needs coffee…

Coffee is officially coming out of my pores. :)

Red looks good on you JD. It is easy for me, I watch in my PJs. But yes they are troopers.

Comment by Janice Dean

Thanks Kathy! You know I’m actually wearing orange, but for some reason it looks more red on tv. Thanks for the compliment though! It was chilly this morning, and all I could think of was TURTLENECK!

Oh No…No bill this week :(

Oh well he has been working hard and needs some time away…I hope they have a GRAND time hanging out on the beach…

Yes, Mr. Bill is on a much deserved vacation this week. He gets the MVP award in my opinion!

My husband and I saw you this morning filling in for Steve, and he said “Oh, I like her!” That is an enormous compliment coming from that man. Just wanted you to know that we were “tickled pink” to see you in the red outfit this morning.

Have a blessed day!

JD….Good day, eh!

Not much sleep from the wind and then an early morning filling in for Doocey. I’m thinking the coffee maker will be running all day at the weather machine office?

Hmm, I kinda think that Dawn likes Bill Hemmer? He does have a good TV presence, but when I have the rare chance to see the Megyn and Bill show I enjoy the beautiful blonde duo of Janice and Megyn.

Boy oh boy did winter ever come back in a forceful way yesterday here in the Scotia, NY area. The wind was strong enough to carry in snow squalls from Lake Ontario and those bursts of snow left a thin film of ice on the roads. The highway departments were caught off guard.

It is not fit more man nor beast outside today. I hope everyone stays in and keeps warm.

Hey Bill!
Yes, wasn’t it wild? I saw wind gusts of over 40 mph, but in my bedroom I was sure they were hurricane force!

That’s how I feel every morning! Waking up is never easy for me, so I know what you’re going through JD, although fortunately for me, I did sleep last night :D The wind was something else here yesterday, let me tell you! The gusts were well over 40 MPH, and I’m guessing that at times it was as high as 60 MPH. I’m still amazed that our power not only stayed on, but it never blinked, not even once. Hope you had a great weekend!

Yes, winds were so brutal. Glad you could sleep though it Justin! Yes, I put a battery in my alarm clock thinking that the power would go out too. I would hate to be late for a weather hit!

Bill…

I admit I do admire Bill Hemmer and his journalistic style….I really feel he does the “fair and balanced” real well….For the most part I cant tell how he feels personally on most hard news stories…which as news viewer I appreciate…..

I also sense his compassion is real and not just the “right warm fuzzy thing to say” on those stories where the human heart gets touched…

You are right with all of your comments Dawn. He really is a pro, and above all a decent human being.
