Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Is it Friday yet???

Good morning everyone!

I woke up and it felt like a Friday! So for much of the morning I was planning my weekend thinking it would be starting in just a few hours…don’t you hate when that happens?

So, weatherwise, it’s groundhog day again. Another winter storm is getting its act together across the plains and will bring us heavy snow, flooding rain, icy stuff inbetween and the risk for severe weather along the Gulf Coast. We’re already starting to see the storm on radar across Texas and Oklahoma where we could be seeing 6-12 inches in the next 24 hours. My other big concern is the flooding potential with this next system over the Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee and the Ohio River Valley where a lot of these rivers and streams are just cresting from the last storm! Once again, here’s a peak at all the various NWS watches and warnings:

And you know we’ll keep an eye on it from here…

In other news, I am working on a project here at Fox that I am very excited about! (It’s not weather related…but something very important to me, so I hope I can share it with you when we plan to air it!) I don’t want to give anything away yet, but promise to let you know very soon! (How’s that for a tease? :) You’ll just have to keep visiting the Weather Machine every few hours to see what’s happening!

And P.S. thanks to everyone who participated in “caption this cute break” We’ll do more of those since your responses were so creative and funny!

Hi, I used to live near Ashtabula, but I know it’s hard to pronounce.
It’s already Friday in my country, Japan! I’ll keep checking here
from Japan. Anyway, the dog’s face is so funny. I like it!

Ah a shorthaired pointer with that ever-present inquisitive look. Thank goodness it was Thursday feeling like Friday instead of Tuesday, I’ve done that before and it made for a very long week. ;-)

Hmmm, a special project, eh! I’m busy searching my backup files trying to remember all of the things you’ve mentioned on the blog……………..Let’s see could it be related to animals and pets, jury duty, crime victims?

“Non weather related and JD has a journalistic background”, hmmm………………….searching, searching, searching…………..

Oh heck I’m just going to have to wait and see.

Bill, I don’t think you will guess this project…but good guesses anyway! :) soon!

Hey, Janice:

Sorry, I am not good at doing captions.

Weather here yesterday was nice as far as I am concerned. I enjoyed the windy noontime. Today was cooler, but OK, too.

I noticed “mares tails” in the sky which indicates the possibility of a storm in a few days. Am I correct about this interpretation?

I, too, eagerly await your project. Might it concern those of us who commune on your website?

Sal

Hey Sal…I think your mares tails/storm in a few days might be an old wives tale! They are just wisps of cirrus clouds…as for the project, you’ll know tomorrow!

FRIDAY!!!!!!!! Goddess, I have a riddle….

What does Luis, Dallas-Fort Worth airport and weather equal?

LONG DELAYS…….it snowed in Dallas yesterday and I was delayed for hours. I have never travelled through that airport without being stuck a minimum of 2 hours, typically more!!!!!!

Anyway, enough whining, look forward to your project updates, cute breaks and dazzling smile!

Have a great weekend…..

Comment by Janice Dean

Yes Luis! Were people freaking out there? North of Dallas got socked in bigtime! Hope you got to your final destination…or at least had a good book and some yummy snacks!

The picture looks just like my son’s Weimaraner, Shadow. He has that beautiful gray coat, but his eyes are very intense blue. Also, he’s big as a small horse. He thinks he’s Eric’s child and not his pet. Shhhh!! We don’t tell him any different.

Snow forecast for MS this weekend. How weird is that? Also, Bill Clinton will be in town tomorrow stumping for Hillary. Even weirder!!! Unfortunately, I won’t make that one. The snow will probably be too deep, and I won’t be able to get there.

A great weekend to all!
