More Rain for Flood Zones … and Cherry Blossoms!
The flooding continues across the nation’s midsection with flood warnings still in effect from the lower Mississippi River up into the Ohio River. Some of the larger rivers won’t crest until early April, so this is a story that will be in the news for a little while longer. The other piece of bad news is more rain is in the forecast for these water-logged neighborhoods this week and into the weekend. It’s going to be a tough spring for a lot of areas as the waterways will be tested many times from the storms and the melting of the record breaking snowfall.
It was pretty chilly across the southeast overnight and this morning with freeze warnings in effect all the way to Florida but things should warm up this afternoon, bringing the threat for dry conditions and unfortunately the threat for wildfires.
And it’s going to get pretty hot across the southern plains this week with some areas getting close to the 90’s! Break out the swimsuits!

Have you ever been to the Festival? I haven’t, but I’m thinking of taking a few days off to have a peek!

Goddess,
I have and it is a blast. Take some time to visit the memorials and Arlington National Cemetary. Very moving …………..
Hey Luis! I hope I can do the trip. It looks amazing!
Janice,
Thanks for the Easter cartoon posts. You have a great sense of humor. Enjoy the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Thanks Gary! I appreciate you posting with us! Come back soon!
Janice, I haven’t been to the festival on the weekends because I don’t like big crowds but I have gone down a couple times when the blossoms were in bloom. I love taking pictures and have gotten some great ones of the trees. It’s nice to take a relaxing stroll along the tidal basin with the trees in full bloom. I also highly recommend the Albert Einstein Memorial near the National Academy of Sciences building a couple blocks north of the Lincoln Memorial. It is quite fascinating. I hope you do get to go because DC is beautiful this time of year. Enjoy! Margie
Thank you for the great suggestions Margie! I hope I can do a little getaway soon!
Glad to hear its nice somewhere weather wise. As I type this, 305pm Tuesday it’s SNOWING in the OV. Yes JD snowing!! Stop doing those snow dances.
Yeash! NO MORE SNOW!!
I want to go visit my girlfriend and her kids soon – but I need some of that to melt!!
The cherry blossoms are beautiful. You can see the blossoms everywhere in Japan!
yes, of course Fujie! we wouldn’t have those cherry blossoms if it weren’t for the kindness of Japan!
The cherry blossoms are beautiful. Just check with Fox Washington bureau to make sure they are blooming as sometimes the festival and the cherry blossoms don’t coincide.
If they are, it is worth taking some vacation or seeing if you could work out of the Washington bureau for a couple days.
