Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Half way to the weekend!

Happy Hump Day!

Hope everyone likes the pictures from UReport, and I apologize if we’ve gotten some of your names wrong with the images submitted.  It is a process, and I’ve had some help from our Blog folks up in Viewer Services to post them.  If you see a picture that isn’t yours, let me know and I’ll try to correct it right away.  Like anything else, it takes time to get a system going.  I’m just happy we’re getting a great response!

In weather-land, another pretty quiet day.  We have a system across the Rockies that will bring more mountain snow to Colorado and then some rain over the Plains and the Mid Mississippi Valley.  Some isolated severe could pop up tonight, but really nothing widespread.

The big concern is with the winds and the low relative humidity.   Wildfire risk is enhanced from New Mexico through West Texas and up in the Midwest as a warm southerly flow brings those temperatures up and dries out things out ahead of the storm in the rockies.

I have to admit it’s been pretty nice having a calmer weather pattern (even though when the weather is bad I get more airtime!  haha!)  And the weather here in the Northeast has been incredible.  It’s amazing what longer days and spring-time temperatures can do for the spirit!

That’s it for now…I am going to get some training on the U-Report system today so I can try to handle some of the picture posting myself.   Like I said, I’m excited you guys are participating and showing off your amazing camera skills!  :)

Good Morning Weather Goddess :)

You are doing a great job. No worries……………….

Weather here in Houston is about as good as it gets all year. We are going to embrace this because he “bad hair” days will come soon enough, LOL.

Ciao Bella

Yes, I remember those bad hair days!! Pony-tails are a common site! ;)

Nice to see that your blog is not being over run by the morons who have taken over Greta’s blog. I think I’ll hang out here for a while

How do you like forecasting weather for the entire coutry? Do you like that more than if you were just forecasting for an individual city???

Too many questions…..I’ll shut up!

Comment by Janice Dean

Hey Steve-O! Sorry about Greta’s blog…I think they are working to fix the issues they have. Glad you’ve come to visit here…I enjoy what I do tremedously – mainly because I work with great people. The National weather is a little more of an overview, so I don’t get to really go indepth…local forecasting is fun too, but it’s all about where you work sometimes — you can have the best job in the world, but if you work with miserable people, it’s never fun!

JD……

Good morning, getting ready for our snow later after 82 yesterday. Oh well, Denver in the springtime!

By the way, do you or anyone know the origin of “hump Day.?”

Have a great day.

Hello there from Las Vegas! I am here stuck in the airport for a bit and decided to fix the issue with the comments on my blog. They are now off and I will do my best to keep spam comments off of the thing. So much to do though. I just finished up with the National Association of Broadcasters convention. I bought a very cool video camera that I can take on the bike with me, so look out for updates to contain video soon. Although I was out here, my training continued. Two mornings of workouts and constant walking the convention floor. Three football fields in length end to end. A ride planned for this weekend and another update to come so stay tuned. Thank you for the kind thoughts and donations. This is going to be an amazing tour and all of you will be with me in my thoughts. If you have time, make your way to my blog and keep posted. http://8by10byscott/blogspot.com

Hey Janice.

Happy Hump Day to you..I feel pretty humpy today..humpy meaning oldish, tierdish, and over the hillish!

I got out of my pj’s long enough to mow my huge yard today, weather was fantastic..Very Sunny..slight breeze..temps in the low 70’s..a beautiful day here in my part of Tn… Dogwood winter is officially over..and the next winter is called Blackberry winter..that’s when the Blackberry bushes bloom and the temps usually get cooler for a few days…I’ll let you know when that southern phenomenon occurs.

I want to compliment you on your blog jd..I look foward to coming here everyday and reading comments by you and the other bloggers..and now with the pics..it is even better…I really appreciate you for letting me be a part of your world…it means alot to me. It has been rough these past couple of months since my mother past away, but coming here has helped me through some of the bad days, and for that I am grateful…Tomorrow is her BD, she would have been 74…so I will be back here for that special dose of sunshine to help me through the day.

2 days and counting til the weekend….YEE-HAW!!!

It really is spectacular outside. I walked home again today…I’m pretty proud of myself Deb—although once the weekend comes, it’s going to be hard to get out of the pj’s! :) I’d love to see what blackberry bushes look like! I keep thinking of a little tree with little electronic devices! hahaha! Glad you’re part of the blog too Deb…I’m sorry it’s been hard for you lately…I know you have lots of of support around you to get through the tough times…:)

Thank you for posting my pictures Janice!
It was actually only one sunny day in La Rochelle (where was that famous micro-climate?! :D )
Are you really going to Dallas to join Scott in a couple of weeks?
That’s awesome.
Are you planning to ride a bicycle as well??!
That would be cool.

With such a lovely weather as today in the city, I can’t wait to start again to ride my bicycle along the Hudson river after work.
I love to go all the way to the tip of Manhattan, across from the Statue of Liberty.

Janice, were you really a DJ??!
Of course I’m not surprised. Just didn’t know the details!
For a radio?!
Please let us know!!

Guillaume

Comment by Janice Dean

Hey Guillaume! Yes, it looks like I’m going to Dallas…I’m excited about it. I think I may ride the bike for a little bit…but certainly not all of it! ;) There are some nice bike paths here in NYC that I should take advantage of! Yes, I was a DJ for most of my career!! Classic Rock for 6 years, I’ve done Jazz, Country and Oldies too!!

I just have to add my two cents here. I agree with the comments about this being a great blog. It’s a lot of fun to share comments and photos and get nice replies. It’s very personal and I like that. I agree with Steve-O’s comments about Greta’s blog. I love Greta and I watch her every night, but her blog has gotten way too nasty for me. I just read what Greta has to say and that’s it. This blog is much kinder and gentler and I feel like part of a family.

Deb, I’m sorry to hear about your mom. My mom is not in good health so I know I’ll be facing the same thing some day. You mom was young and that makes it even harder. Birthdays and anniversaries always bring back memories and can be very hard. Try to think about all the good memories and fun times you had with your mom. April 15th was the 21st anniversary of my brother’s death and I remember that day as if it happened yesterday. He died from complications from a bone marrow transplant for Hodgkin’s disease at the age of 24. We were only a year apart in age and we were very close, but I just try to think about all the silly things he did and that makes me laugh. He could make me laugh so hard that I’d have tears rolling down my face. Those happy memories are what we need to think about.

This is getting way too depressing so I think I better stop. I’ll have to post some of my “cool critters” photos this evening to brighten things up. Since people liked my duck picture, I’ll share some other critter photos with you. Somewhere in my vast collection I have a picture of a male and female mallard in the same pose, which is even funnier. There’s a duck pond about a mile from where I grew up and I loved walking there and watching all the ducks. I also have a great picture of a little lamb scratching its head, so I might send that one. They’ll make a nice “cute break” for everyone.

Have a great day everyone.

Margie

Hey JD…TWM

Thanks for answering so many….I have a small request…My daughter turns 8 this weekend…she already has everything….What would be a really cool gift for her?????We always buy her something expensive and she is happy with that…Trampoline…4 Wheeler…things like that.I want to get her something really cool, something that she will just dig, it doesn’t have to be expensive, just something that is way cool for an 8 year old she does so well in school and is so respectful I wanty to give her something that she will use and remember. I was thinking a metal detector that she could explore and comb the beach. She is very inquisitive…Do you have any cool ideas, or perhaps some of your bloggers might have some cool ideas.

Check out the post above this one Steve-O!! I’m getting everyone to help!
