Tornado Outbreak

Horrible news out of Missouri this morning with 19 deaths and dozens of injuries from yesterday’s severe weather. 40 tornadoes were reported according to the National Weather Service from Oklahoma through Kansas and Missouri and then into Arkansas.

Several homes sit destroyed by a tornado strike near Seneca, Mo., on Saturday, May 10, 2008.

Here’s a look at all of the current watches and warnings: http://www.weather.gov/

The threat for severe weather is now into Georgia and up into the Carolinas.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all the families and communities that are suffering this morning.

Hey Janice,

I just was checking the news and saw that about all those people killed by the tornadoes. That is so sad. It looks like such a mess out there. My heart goes out to all those people affected and I’ll be keeping them in my prayers. It looks like you’re in for some nasty weather, too, so I hope you’ll be careful. You’re in my prayers, too.

Take care,
Margie

Hey Janice,

I hate hearing about killer tornados..and their destruction..

We had dark skies and it was raining sideways a little bit ago..but now the sun in shining and the sky is clear…but I am keeping a close watch on the situation..you can never tell.

Stay safe.

I was so upset when I heard about these tornadoes and the families that are now torn apart.

Noticed that there aren’t many comments to recent posts. Yesterday I tried to get on here to post (in between helping my oldest daughter move into her new house…and I actually got out of bed this morning!) and the site was doing something and I couldn’t get on.
Aren’t you supposed to be on vacation?! You’ve GOT to take time off from the weather now and then! It will always be there and there will always be others to tell us about it (although not nearly as well….). But there’s only one YOU and you need to give your brain a break from all this mess called the weather. Go enjoy yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you have fun if your hubby kept running around trying to put out fires while you were vacationing? We’ll all be here when you get back! Now go enjoy yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Margie and Deb…..

Hope you all have a great mother’s day. Glad the rain stopped going sideways. Here in Denver it got down to 29 this morning but it is already near 60 and heading up to the mid 70s. And, of course, it is going to be snowing here by Tuesday morning.

Janice……

I knew you would love Bald Head. Stay safe with the T-Storms today. Let me know what you think of the lighthouse when you go there.

Happy Mother’s day to everyone else out there.

Hi Sunny,

You have warmer weather in Denver than it is here at my parents’ in south central Pennsylvania. It’s only 56 and windy and rainy and just plain yucky! It’s not supposed to be much better tomorrow. At least they’re not calling for snow here! This weather is just plain crazy. Hopefully it will get back to “normal” soon. Have a great day.

Sunny..

It has rained sideways off and on all day today..The wind is extremely high..a little scarey..there have been alot of trees down and our power went out for a couple of hours today..

I am glad you got some sunshine in Denver today..but snow on Tuesday..I guess that is typical for your area?

You have a great week..

Hope everyone had a nice weekend…I feel a bit out of the loop because of the busy-ness of work….But it was a great weekend for us…

Im tired…and my butt is tired…(cant explain it other than to say it aches… )

Hoping for some rain so that I can stay at home and do book work from here…

From the weekends sales I have to say that people aren’t cutting back on their flowers for their homes in anyway shape or form….

Have a pleasant evening all…

Hi everyone,

The rain in south central Pennsylvania has been coming down sideways, too, but the highest gust has only been around 32 mph. Almost an inch of rain has fallen during the day. I can hear the wind howling right now. I hope the weather is better Monday when I have to drive home over the mountains. I hate driving over the mountains in the wind and rain because it can be rather foggy and nasty. When it’s windy during the trip I have to hold on to the steering wheel so tightly that my hands are red by the time I get home. That’s no fun! Hopefully things will settle down soon.

Hey Dawn, I hope you’ll have a chance to rest up a little. It sounds like you had a hard weekend. Take care.

Stay safe everyone.

Deb….

Wow, it was incredible today. Got out and did about a 50 mile ride on my motorcycle. Not a cloud in the sky and views of the mountains from Southern Wyoming all the way to near New Mexico.

Regarding the snow……We usually get some in May. Back in 1983 on the 17th right before my older daughter was born, we had 13 inches. In the 30 years I have lived here, it has snowed at least 3 or 4 times over Memorial Day weekend. A few years ago we even had some snow on the 8th of June. In fact, the only two months when it hasn’t snowed in Denver are July and August. The good thing is that the weather is really nice most of the time. we have more than 300 days of sunshine and only about 13″ of moisture a year. NO HUMIDITY in the summer is great also.

Sorry to bore you with all the details.

Hope you had a great moms day.

Margie…….

Just ask Al Gore, the weather won’t ever get back to normal due to “Global Warming.”

By the way, where are you from in SC Penn? I am originally from outside Philly.

Hope it dries out soon there.

Hey Sunny,

I just checked the forecast and it’s only supposed to get up to 45 degrees tomorrow. It feels more like March than May! If that’s global warming then…(I won’t go there!) The rain picked up again and it’s so windy outside that I don’t know how I’ll fall asleep. I checked the radar and all the heavy stuff that’s in Maryland is rotating around and creeping back in this direction. I don’t like that! I used to live outside of Waynesboro, PA, which I think is close to 3 hours from Philadelphia. If you fold a map of PA in half, Waynesboro would be pretty close to the middle, just north of the Maryland border. The retirement community where my parents live isn’t too far from Waynesboro. It’s out in the middle of nowhere, sort of like Cumberland! There are some cities around that are a little bigger than anything near Cumberland (around 30,000-40,000 people). What I like about this area is that there are a lot more shopping choices. Cumberland is pretty sad in that regard.

Well, it’s time to get ready for bed. I have to get ready so I can lie in bed and listen to the wind howl and the rain pounding against the window. I can hardly wait! Have a great week.

Hi you guys….

During this time of year yes we are busy at the farm (being seasonal ya gotta make hay while the sunshines dotcha know :D )

Today was very over cast and cloudy so I had the day off…(not many customers)

Come fall and winter I am on extended downtime though so I dont complain…When we are open to the public we are open 8am-7pm 7 days a week ’til we close in the fall…

We had a very great weekend business wise…reguardless of things like gas and oil prices etc people are bound and determined to have their flowers and veggie plants…

We are fortunate and grateful to our customers….

Its been WINDY here today…very very windy

I know people are curious and anxious of what the destruction of a tornado can do ,but i feel sometimes people dont always take in account of what someone is really going through . on sunday may the 11th we were heading to seneca on 43 and there was so much traffic we pulled over to ask the officer if we could go in told him the address and name of the person who had acceppted our help of trying to cover his house and his belongings of what he had left. the traffic on iris road that day was horrific and dangerous as we were trying to clean up these were all people site seeing not one of them stopped and offered help. but one did stop and wanted to buy a vehicle from his yard… what is wrong with people?????? I am not for sure . like i said i can understand there interest but please allow people a few days to try to gather what clothes and belongs they have left with out worring the are going to get run over by a site see”er.. And on this day still picking up someones loved one that wasnt able to survive the storm remember this could have been your family or friend laying in a field . and deserves there remains to be found as soon as possible to help the family of that survived victim, and another why were they allowed in ???? Our friend wanted to come stay in a warm house with us but afraid of someone stealing from him due to all the people in a diaster area that were not there to help and why did they not close this down at night at a certain time and allow no one in that they did not have a destination to be there . that night there were 100s of cars lined up on the road and this was not normal traffic and if the detoured to try and avoid this area it may save someone elses life by the distraction of everything.

sorry to be so blunt
but please wait a few days
before entering these sites
unless your there to truly help.
