I really enjoy the U Report pics you post from viewers everyday. Most of the places i havent seen or visited before, so its interesting to look at.
Hey Luis-
Awesome pics of Puerto Rico. It really makes you feel like you are really part the culture there. I really want to visit there for a vacation sometime.
I’m glad you like them Brad. I think it really brightens up the blog too!
Luis,
Really neat photos. My oldest son and his best friend spent a week in Puerto Rico when they graduated high school. His best friend had family who lived down there. Eric (my son) just loved the trip. It was a great adventure for him. Maybe I need to add Puerto Rico to the ever-growing list of places my hubby and I will visit when we retire. At least I can dream.
Hope all have a great day!
Gwen
Gwen-
I havent been to Puerto Rico before also.
How is the weather there? Maybe you can ask your son. It cant be any warmer than the times i have visited Hawaii.
You should also consider taking a trip out there soon.
Its a great place to relax and clear your mind.
Brad,
I have been to Hawaii–but only once. My husband and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary there. He was still in the MS Air National Guard and travelled extensively with them. They had a trip to Hawaii, so I got a plane ticket and met him over there. He was at Hickam Air Force Base, and we stayed at a hotel they have on base. I loved that, since we were so far removed from the commercialized areas of Hawaii. We did all of the regular touristy things, too. I got to see Pearl Harbor (which is a site everyone needs to visit); and, yes, I did weep while I was there. It is such a powerful monument, and they ask everyone to be silent or not speak above a whisper while there. It’s just a very moving experience.
Gwen-
I know usually when tourists visit Hawaii, they always stay in the hotels at the Waikiki district. I think a person needs to branch out of out of tourist trap of the state and visit some real local places. During the several times i have went there, i was fortunate enough to attend a luau, take a scenic air tour, and witness that famous volcano on the neighboring islands. I cant remember the name of it.
If you even happen to catch Anthony Bourdains “No Reservations” program on the Travel Channel, in one episode he visits Hawaii, and takes in food and culture which make that place special. He even goes on a surfing lesson.
Check your local listings,it might be on again one of these days. I will let you know if i find out anything.
I have been the Pearl Harbor, but not recently, i read that they are currently spending a lot of money to renovate the facilities there, partly because its sinking from all the erosion of the salt water.
I think every year around December, they have the WWII ceremonies there. Its really heartbreaking and sad because most of the vets have passed away.
