Egg on my Face!
Mr. Doocy is out on vacation today and tomorrow, so I get to help out doing weather on Fox and Friends in the am. I just had a yummy breakfast which after being up at 3:30 tasted divine! A cheese omelet with home-fries and toast (incase you’re wondering!
I had to stop myself from licking the plate! I have to admit though, I ate so fast that when I ran back to the studio to do weather – and bumped into Governor Mike Huckabee on my way in, I didn’t realize I literally had a piece of left-over egg on my cheek. He was such a gentleman, he just smiled and chatted with me all the while probably trying not to look at the breakfast I wore on my face! Ha ha.
Thankfully, there’s not much major weather happening today besides some showers and thunderstorms for the east coast back through the Gulf Coast states courtesy of a cold front thats slowly moving east. And some seasonal rains keep coming over the Southwest prompting flash flood watches in parts of New Mexico and West Texas. Also, excellent news that we’re not dealing with a severe weather threat today or tomorrow.
The tropics are getting busy in the Atlantic and the Pacific. Tropical Storm Bertha is still going strong just east of Bermuda. Tropical storm warnings remain in effect and they will see 12-18 foot waves along with tropical storm force winds for a good part of today. A gradual turn to the north and the northeast will re-curve Bertha out to see this week. We’re also going to feel the effects of Bertha on the east coast with waves and the threat of dangerous rip currents which have already unfortunately taken a few lives this weekend. People who aren’t experienced swimmers shouldn’t take a chance venturing out especially without lifeguards in the area.
In the Central Atlantic, we are watching an area of low pressure about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. This could become a tropical depression later on today…but doesn’t look like it will be a big threat just yet to anyone.
And over in the eastern Pacific, Hurricane Elida is the second hurricane of the Pacific season. The greatest impact from Elida will be high waves and rip currents along the Mexican Coast.
In other news, my good friend Jenna Gibson who was at Molly Henneberg’s wedding with me over the weekend sent me some great pictures which I will share with you a little later today.
Have a great Monday guys! Don’t forget to check to see if you have leftover breakfast on your face before you talk to anyone! JD’s advice for the day..

Gov Huckabee has always struck me as a very real affable man….He has this very friendly and inviting smile
He is a very kind and friendly man. And so well spoken as well. I enjoy hearing what he has to say.
Are you a naturalized citizen or do you still have Canadian citizenship? He might not have wanted to offend a registered voter.
(haha) He seems like an affable kind of fellow but I was never sure if I would have voted for him.
I have dual citizenship. I’m a lucky gal.
Hey Janice,
Thanks for the chuckle this morning, I pictured the scenerio as you explain it..he probably didn’t even notice the omelet residue over your beauty and charm..
Just more July weather here…Sunny and hot one minute, and then the next ..cloudy, raining and cooler, and then back to hot and humid.
Don’t work too hard, and keep that morning bunch in line..
Deb
Ha! I’m fading fast now Deb. I need another big breakfast! heehee
Hey Janice,
I guess having egg on your face is better than having something between your teeth! He probably didn’t even notice. At least you weren’t on air with it on your face! That would have been more traumatic.
I hope you don’t mind if I answer one of Brad’s comments on this thread instead of the one from yesterday. We were discussing VCR’s and DVD recorders, etc. He commented that he never buys anything online because of fear of identity theft, so I thought I’d share some thoughts with him that will benefit everyone.
Brad, you have to be very careful when you buy online. I’ve been doing it for years and have never had any problems. You just have to know who you’re buying from and if they have a secure site. I never buy from a site unless the ordering is done using a secure server and the way to tell that is if the URL begins with https. On Explorer, there’s even a little lock icon on the status bar at the bottom. I only store my credit information on big sites like Amazon, Sears, etc. The others that I don’t use often, I enter it in each time. I’ve never had any kind of problem using these sites.
One thing to watch out for is phishing e-mails. I get those from time to time and they are easy to recognize. I pay all my bills online so I’m registered with a bunch of places. I will occasionally get e-mails from my credit card company’s that may look real, but I know they are not. You know why? They start out with “Dear Customer” which is a dead giveaway since all the real correspondence from my credit cards have my full name and last four digits of my credit card number. That’s how I know they’re real. You should NEVER click on a link in an e-mail if you’re unsure of who is really sending it. If you’re being asked to update some account information, just type in the URL of your credit card, bank, or whatever, and check it that way. Those links can take you to a site that may look legitimate, but is not. I got something from PayPal (I think) a while back that looked really legitimate, but it wound up being a phishing e-mail. I can’t remember what it was about, but I forwarded the e-mail to PayPal and they wrote back saying it was fraudulent. It had the logo and all kinds of things on it, but it wasn’t real. The ones that come to my work e-mail are the easiest to spot since none of my accounts use my work e-mail as a contact. I even got one from a bank that I don’t belong to, so that one was easy.
You just have to use common sense and you won’t have problems. Just remember that no legitimate bank or whatever will ask for account information via an e-mail. All the credit cards should have an e-mail address to send suspicious e-mail. Also, when I’m buying from a site that I’m not familiar with, I look at where they are located to make sure they have a legitimate address and if they have an “about us” link where you can find out about them. I try to stay away from sites that don’t provide that information.
Well, that’s my two cents for today. Actually, from the length of this, it’s more like two dollars! I hope everyone has a great day.
Margie
you too margi! great net safe info!, , and hi Janice have a safe and wonderful day and week ahead, wow so molly got married, how comes all the hot fox gals get taken, huh go figure right! , as for egg on your face, well thats ok i wouldn’t of noticed because you may of had egg on your face, but you are always saving our bacon !,

Did it blend in with your make-up? LOL
At least it wasn’t green eggs and ham!
Mike Huckabee is a very soft spoken and geniune person, he always striked me as that type of person, from watching him on tv and on interviews.
What is this i hear about a FNC show pilot hosted by him? Is it going to start up in the Fall?
Maybe Janice or someone can let us in on the inside scoop
What does everyone think about this latest turn of events?
It looks like Alisyn Camerota is back to hosting the weekend F&F tim slot.

I am very disappointed about this.
I have also noticed all this weekend they have been running ads for F&F saying that its hosts are SD, GC. and BK, so i guess the rumors were correct
FNC is the number one cable news network for almost 10 years, and i sure hope this isnt a move by the higher ups because the ratings are dwindling.
Also check out this URL also. It talks more about the changes at F&F.

Hey Janice-
It must have been one delicious omelet, because i guess you devoured it up
Its making me hungry just thinking about it. Maybe i will go and pick up an Egg McMuffin at McDonalds tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the weather update. You are always on top of these kind of things. Be sure to take care, and dont work to hard
Margie-
Thanks for the long lesson about ID theft and phishing scams, i really appriciate you taking the time and explaining all this facts to me
I still dont know if i will ever be making any kind of purchases on the internet anytime soon(maybe your best selling novel if you are not going to sell it anyplace else but on Amazon.com).
I have come across phishing scams on those social networking sites. One in particular, which name i wont mention, where the person running the elaborate scam makes a photocopy of the log in page, and it usually comes up during the time when you are already logged in.
Sometimes they will ask you to verify your password, or retype it on.
What really bugs me is that social networking site isnt really doing anything to stop these kind of stuff. The result being that many users accounts are getting hacked and deleted.
I havent really come across most of the phishing email you have mentioned, but mostly because i dont purchase anything online. I usually dont open any strange looking emails, or they probably end up in the spam folder, so i usually get rid of it immediately.
Thanks again for all your help. You should give lectures and seminars on this subject. I am sure people will pay you top dollar to hear you speak:)
I thought this article was hilarious. And it was mentioned on F&F this morning.
