Early to bed…early to rise
I think for the first time since I was 6 years old I went to bed at 7pmlast night! And I slept through the night until the 3:30 alarm went off! Steve will be back tomorrow, so I’ll be back to my normal schedule. Although I will say that Fox and Friends is such a fun show to be a part of! Very relaxed and everyone including the crew has such a great time.
The Midwest will have a cold front drop in from Canada and that will be the focus for some localized heavy rain and or thunderstorms over the next few days as the front stalls. We could see some isolated severe weather with the possibility for some hail, damaging winds from the western great lakes back into Nebraska.
In the tropics, we are still watching Bertha pull away from Bermuda. She’s still a strong tropical storm that could become a hurricane again, but the good news is Bertha is mainly going to be a marine interest now as the storm is not expected to be a threat to land.
There’s a few areas of disturbed weather in the Atlantic as well that we are monitoring. A low pressure system about 1,000 miles away from the Lesser Antilles still has the potential to develop into a tropical depression over the next day or so. We’ll keep an eye on it from here.
And in the “I’ve heard it all now…” file, Global Warming may now be the cause for kidney stones! Read here for the riveting details!

Janice…My mom and I were chatting at work about the internet etc etc….I talked about how I was part of your blog and she piped up, smiled and said how she remembers you from your Imus days…
I told her about your MS Dx….she wanted me to pass along her warm thoughts and prayers to you and wishes you well….
When I told her your and Sean’s anniversary is her the same as her birthday she got the chills and grinned again
So well wishes to you and yours from her…..
Hey Dawn! Thanks for the warm wishes from your mom! Ahhh yes, my past continues to haunt me! hahaha!
Good Morning Janice………
If global warming causes kidney stones because we won’t drink enough liquids, then Al Gore causes liver desease because listening to him will cause us to drink too many liquids………….as in booze. Luckily I drank enough beer in my college life to last two or three lifetimes…….and with all that “recycling”, my kidneys are well flushed.
HAHA! Good one John!
Hey Janice,
I don’t think I could function if I got up at 3:30 in the morning! Actually, I did that a couple years ago to drive one of my cousins to BWI airport for a 6:00 flight. I think I got up at 2:30 that day. It was kind of fun driving around Baltimore at 5:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning and being the only car on the road for a while. It was really weird!
Anyway, I would like to know who funded that “research” on global warming/kidney stones. I found the article abstract on the journal’s web site but that did not indicate who funded that wonderful “research.” I hope it wasn’t the government! If the National Academy of Sciences funded it, then it’s their fault for wasting their money. I think this is just more baloney from some people that really need to get a life!
I have a question for you. Has anyone submitted photos on the new link from your blog? You haven’t posted any pictures recently and I was wondering if that was working. I want to make sure it’s working before I try to submit any more pictures. I might try resending a couple of the ones that got lost.
I hope you can stay awake for the rest of the day today! Have a great day.
Margie
Hiya Margie
I have to be honest and say I haven’t looked at the new link yet – I know Krista our intern is going to post some pics today. I’ll try to have a peak today.
Oohhh, that is too good! If it wasn’t for the fact that actual money was spent, that study would be even more comical!
Hope you are having a good Tuesday all!! I’m just sitting at the desk doing my work and hoping luchtime will get here quicker! I hear a great Deli sandwhich calling me from the cafeteria!
Janice…Did you ever think you’d see the Canadian Dollar get back to par with the U.S. dollar? It helps on my Canadian investments but hurts when we pay the provincial taxes on the lake place. I was talking with the liasion officer from Ottawa today about this and he said it really makes the U.S. a place to be stationed if you are in his field or in the diplomatic corps. It all started with him bringing some Canadian money and needing to buy something. I told him I would trade him Abe Lincoln for Winston Laurier straight up.;-)
Hey Don. I’ve learned in this life to not be surprised about anything…so the fact that the “loonie” (our Canadian dollar) is on par with the U.S. doesn’t really say anything…I do have investments in Canada as well, so it helps a little. The Euro is the impressive currency these days!
Hey Janice,
I couldn’t resist sharing this with everyone. I was just reading some medical news on a complementary/alternative medicine database and I’m beginning to wonder if those researchers in Texas universities have too much time on their hands! The news headline was “Watermelon and Viagra” and of course I was curious to see what that was about! Here’s the latest:
“Researchers from Texas A & M University claim that watermelon has ingredients that deliver Viagra®-like effects to the body’s blood vessels and may even increase libido… Examples of the phyto-nutrients found in watermelon include lycopene, beta-carotene and citrulline (an amino acid). These compounds are being studied for their ability to relax blood vessels, similar to the way Viagra does.”
I think I’ll refrain from any other editorial comments other than to say that I think there are a lot more important things to research–like finding a cure for MS–than to be comparing watermelons to Viagra! (I’m sorry–I’m just in one of those moods!)
Have a great day.
Margie
Yup! I’ve heard that too…I think we had Megyn and Bill did a big segment on it during their show a few days ago!
Margie…………shhhhhhhh, next thing you know they’ll raid the Watermelon patch.
My, is that a vile of Viagra in your pants, or a watermelon.
OK, I’ll let it go too……….
Margie…
I think the story uses Viagra to capture peoples and foundations attention to the research…
Im all for research on foods that may contain medicinal side effects….and that includes watermelon rinds…
In fact sometime finding cures for various diseases comes about strictly by accident while researching on something else….
Who knows…perhaps break thrus into MS research, spinal cord injuries or other diseases and injuries will come by research that is looking at something completely different….

SOme pics of my Middle East trip.
I’ll be here another week so more to follow.
Ciao Goddess
Great stuff Luis! Thank you for sharing!
Hello everyone…..
I think my eyes are going to explode……
Global Warming causes Kidney Stones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If any of those idiots ever had a kidney stone they wouldn’t be saying that. Are these bozos ever going to get real jobs where they actually have to do something?
Anyway, enough ranting. I’ve been gone for a while, came back this morning and the first thing I see is this story. Oh my gosh! Hope everyone is doing well and JD you look great as always.
More later,
Sunny
Hey Sunny! Good to hear from ya! Hope all is well….:)
Hey Janice,
My mom used to day. “Early to bed, early to rise, makes you healthy, weathly and wise”.. That was probably her way of getting us to bed early so she could relax, and we all thought we would be rich by morning..(it didn’t work)..
We are having great weather the past couple of days., it is hot, but not alot of humidity. And there is a wonderful breeze today..Which reminds me, my hair needs a trim.
I will be sure to pass along the Global Stones Theory to the people of this area..there are alot of people around here with kidney stones..I know someone that works in the ER, and he said they have many cases come thru there, and this is a small town.???
Have a nice day JD, maybe you can get caught up on your sleep..
Deb
And hello to the gang!!!!
Hey Deb! Yes, another early night last night – back to my normal schedule which I am excited about!
Hey Dawn,
Your comments are interesting because, believe it or not, Viagara was originally intended to treat angina. I guess when they did the trials for that they discovered that it was better at treating other things! I’m sure there are a lot of drugs where this happened, but this was an easy one to remember. I’m sure medicines aren’t the only things that have been discovered by accident. You never know…
Margie
We had rain yesterday, it was such a change for us. Today it looks like we might be getting more today!
Yes, Kathy! Finally Texas is getting in on much needed moisture. It’s great news for you guys!
I couldn’t bear doing a F&F type of schedule. I enjoy sleeping.
It was tough. But the fun of the show helps with the early schedule!
So Global Warming causes kidney stones? I guess if you only have a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail. Earlier this year when there were record low temperatures in some areas, I remember seeing someone state that the colder temps were due to global warming! Go figure.
I have little faith in many of these “research projects”. I remember reading several years ago in the paper that a government study of 18 months on marijuana revealed that people who like using it, tend to use it more than people who don’t like it! Your tax dollars at work!
I hope everyone is having a great day and that your weather is cooler than what we have here in Texas. I worked outside this weekend and it was 101.
JD, you were great(as usual) on F&F. Take care, JB
Hey JB! Good to hear from you! 101 degrees. That is pretty crazy…the dog days of summer already!
What does everyone think about this latest turn of events?
It looks like Alisyn Camerota is back to hosting the weekend F&F tim slot.
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/
I am very disappointed about this.
I have also noticed all this weekend they have been running ads for F&F saying that its hosts are SD, GC. and BK, so i guess the rumors were correct
FNC is the number one cable news network for almost 10 years, and i sure hope this isnt a move by the higher ups because the ratings are dwindling.
Also check out this URL also. It talks more about the changes at F&F.

That theory about global warming causing kidney stones is just bunch of false made up info.
I dont believe it for a second.
Its just like Al Gore preaching to ordinary people, trying to convince them global warming is causing all these hurricanes and storms, while he is wasting gas flying his private jets all over the world.
From what i read and heard, kidney stones, usually comes when a person doesnt drink at least 8 cups of water a day. But be sure not to drink at all at once, because that can have fatal effects. It happened a couple of years ago to a lady who drank a whole bunch of water at one time for a radio station contest in CA. She passed away several hours later because of it. It guess her heart went into shock, resulting in cardiac arrest.
Or if a person doesnt have enough fiber in their diet, and they become irregular and dont let out all their waste. That is another cause.
Not sure about the kidney stone origins Brad…they sound painful though
Thanks for the pictures Luis.
It sounds like you had a memorable time in the Middle East. You should have bought John McCain with you during your travels.
Hey Margie-
Yep, i heard about that news about how watermelon act as a Viagara. It was on F&F first the other week, and mentioned on Alisyn’s blog. I think you have to eat a whole bunch of watermelons
You should post more alternative medicine news. I always like to hear about those kind of things. I would much rather try different ways to keep healthy, rather the the traditional doctors visit.
I sure hope more funding for stem cell research gets passes soon, but only for medical cures and research only. I dont want it to be used for destroying embryos and cloning. Just to find a cure for the diseases and illness that are plaguing our everyday lives.
Take Care.

I guess most of the modern technologies and medical advances have come by accident, or maybe from watching a tv show, or possibly in a dream. Who knows?
Cool pics Luis..
Thanks
Hey Janice-
I am glad you were able to get a long and good nights sleep. That could be the reason why you look so cheerful and refreshed this morning
Take Caree.
Great Photos Luis!! Thanks for sharing!
Brad: Listening to Al Gore is kind of like listening to your parents when you were a kid. “Do as I say and not as I do!!”
If stem cell research was the cure-all they say it is, then private industry would be all over it outside the country to be sure they got the patents. I think a lot of the cures will be found like they found penicillin…..by accident. (or inspired off-the-wall thinking)
Hey Don-
Good one, i really found that joke amusing. There were a lot of people who were much deserving of the Nobel Prize other than Al Gore. It was a shame that he even won one.
What are your thoughts are the changes going on at F&F, like what mentioned on the comments above? I wonder if its just like what happened to ED Hill?
Brad;
I only get to watch F+F on the week-ends but listen to it during the week on XM. I really like all of them so I’ll be happy if they stay around. I think Alisyn will be around but maybe they are looking to give her her own show. Fox is always tinkering and trying to be sure they stay ahead. I was surprised when Heather Nauert left for ABC and was back at Fox within 6 months. The wheel is always in motion………
And to know what a joke the nobel “peace” prize is (no capitals as it doesn’t deserve them
, remember that Yassir Arrafat won it once. That was when the award lost all meaning to me.
I dont usually watch F&F on the weekends, mostly because i am not up during that time. I usually like to sleep in late during the weekends.
I didnt know Heather Nauert left FNC for another liberal network? I remember when she used to host the 5pm news slot with John Gibson, but that was apparently cancelled, supposedly for election coverage.
I was happy to see her hosting that FNC documentary on the youth vote.
Great to see you this morning Janice thought it was my mind playing tricks on me wait I’m only 33 LMAO But great to see you and not be sick while watching (if home past 9 am c.d.t.) I must be off or sick. Thanks for the good news about lower temps hit near 90 out here and will go above and beyond that OUCH!!!!!!
Hey Kelly. Glad you’re feeling better! Fox and Friends was fun, but I’m glad to be back to my normal schedule!
Great pictures Luis!
interesting to see the Toys R Us logo in Arabic…
Guillaume
Janice, is you hubby going to surf again tomorrow?!
have you tried?
Guillaume
HA! He went yesterday, and had a GREAT time. He said the waves were great, but the rip currents were pretty brutal. He’s home today…(I think! heehee)
Did anyone happen to catch the All Star game last night? What a thriller, it lasted so long, almost 6 hours. It apparently broke a record set back in 1967. For all those who watched it, what a memorable game. Not to mention the last All Star Game in history for Yankee Stadium.
Watched the pregame which was awesome. Too sleepy to stay up and watch the game, but I heard it was epic!
Surfing is great sport to learn, i havent tried it myself, but i used to skateboard back in the day. I heard its very popular in Hawaii, where the sport originated. Kelly Slater and Andy Irons are two of my favorite pro surfers.
I didnt know F&F is simulcasted on XM satellite radio? I am usually hesistant to listen to radio on my computer because the quality isnt that good, plus it wastes a lot of electricity, not to mention its a strain on my computers hard drive.
By any chance is it on Fox News Radio? I heard about it, but i dont think we get that in my area.
It is XM channel 121. That is a simulcast of Fox News. Channel 168 is Fox News radio. I only keep my XM for the hockey as it has ALL games. (home team announcers)
Dont you have a portable radio? Those are so much better and convient than listen to it on your computer.
