New Storm in the Rockies

The same storm that brought reports of tornadoes (and damage over Alabama and Florida) is now spreading rain and the slight risk for severe weather over the southeast today.  Meanwhile, a new storm developing across the Northern Rockies will pull in much cooler air along with heavy rain, strong winds and heavy snow heading into the weekend.  This will be the first significant snowfall of the season for the mountains of Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.  Ahead of this system, and south of it, extreme winds will howl over a widespread area including southern California where fire danger will increase over the next few days.  Red flag warnings and wind advisories up in anticipation of the storm.   Here’s a peak at the lastest watches and warnings:  http://www.weather.gov/

Meanwhile, Hurricane Norbert is still churning in the Pacific, and is still forecast to move into Baja California sometime Saturday as a hurricane.  What’s left of the storm will push into the Southwest and up into the Nation’s Midsection.  Here’s a look at Norbert’s path and computer models:

That’s about all for now!  I will post another open blog and news story post in a second…

Good Morning JD…

Well my area ended up with about an inch of rain…but farther west of me got 3-5 inches..Oh, well you can’t win them all…but I am very thankful for what we got.. :)

It is foggy this morning, and a bit gloomy, but looks like the sun is trying to pop out now…temps are headed back up in the mid 80’s for the weekend.. :)

My life has been pretty quiet this week and uneventful… (not a bad thing)..I always look foward to the weekend, and seeing those sweet smiling faces of my grandkids…They are getting excited about Halloween coming up and getting their costumes ready… :

Have a good day Janice,
Deb

Hiya Deb! I’m sorry you just got a “taste” of that rainfall…which I could give you more. There should be a good chance of more rain once this storm in the west moves east, and some of the moisture from Norbert moves into the nation’s midsection. I will be dressing up as a pregnant lady for Hallowe’en this year! haha!

Then I can expect more “bad” weather, I guess, probably just in time for Halloween??? A most fun night, here in my household, made more difficult if the weather doesn’t co-operate!! I sure hope it stays nice and dry and not too cold, for yet a little longer, here in the great state of Ohio. It is gorgeous today, however, so we will enjoy the moment, and be grateful! Maybe I should get some of those decorations up, while it is still not too cold and dreary outside?

Hopefully no bad weather for hallowe’en Gini! Where I’m from in Canada, they used to make the costumes a little bigger so we could wear our snowsuits underneath! ;)

Leaving on a Mexican Riviera cruise on Saturday from San Diego. Will Norbert still be a problem?
