Hey Janice,

I love the picture of the dog! He/she looks so cute and cuddly! I’m having a nice relaxing morning. It’s nice being on vacation with nothing specific going on. I’m still in my pj’s and I’m watching Bill and Megyn–I don’t get to do that very often!

A while back (last week maybe?) we had a discussion about Ellis Island. Since I’m too lazy to do much of anything else, I think I’ll try to find my before and after pictures of the renovations and send a couple of those in to you. That will give me something useful to do today. Actually, I have plenty to do but it’s just finding the motivation to do it that’s the problem!

I hope you have a quiet day today. We’re supposed to be sunny with a high of 75 today so that will be nice. I hope the sun is shining in your corner of the world. Blessings to you and that little one of yours.

Morning All!

Let me be the first to wish you all a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving (next Monday). Its also the start of hockey season tonight so winter officially begins for some of us! My daughters hockey team is 2-0 so it’s good all around! :-) She has a goal and 3 assists and 8 penalty minutes. She takes after her old man in the penalty minute department (haha).

Janice; when is your little goaltender due? Is he practicing kick saves in there? :-)

Comment by Janice Dean

Hey Don — thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! And yes, bring on the hockey. I love watching games on high definition television. Almost as good as being there! Baby is due mid-January, and yup he’s kicking up a “storm!” :)

I saw a preview of the new Chihuahua movie. It looks very cute! A good movie for kids and the moms or dads who take them to it.

Comment by Janice Dean

I think I will wait to rent that one George – although it does look super cute!

Good morning all! Hope y’all are well today!

Deb, I see that you said you only got a little rain. That’s kind of the way it was down here. We got almost 3 inches in our gauge, but the official total at Key Field-Meridian was less than an inch. I know you’re needing more, so we’ll keep hoping more heads your way. I’m hoping for cooler weather next week at Cherokee.

Margie, I’m buying my camera today. I’ll let you know which one I get. Thanks for the info you passed on to me. I appreciate it. Believe me—I need all the help I can get.

Hope all have a really good day. It’s cloudy, but not raining in Meridian today. A little bit cooler too. I check back in with y’all later.
Gwen

Comment by Janice Dean

Hello Gwen! Glad you got a bit of rain your way! Good luck with the camera! What an exciting purchase!

What’s up with the rat? I thought you had “cute breaks?” :)
Recently a friend of mine dog sat for one of those shivering
whelps and kept the dog in her purse most of the day, a la
Paris Hilton. The only enjoyment was grousing her husband,
who is a Lt. Col. in the Army, about his cute new dog. “No Way!”
he retorted.

Awww – don’t dis the Chihuahua! I’d be a little afraid to own one–just incase I sat on him! But I think they’re still adorbale!

Comment by Margie Gacki

Hey Gwen,

I wish you well with camera shopping. Believe me, with all the choices out there, everyone needs help sorting through all that stuff! I’m looking forward to hearing about which one you buy and also looking forward to seeing pictures from your trip!

The nice thing is that gas prices have come down a lot. I just checked the city of Asheville’s web page and it looks like the shortages are almost over. They said some stations may still be experiencing shortages, but it looks like things are definitely improving. Low gas prices are nice, but don’t do you much good if you can’t find gas! I didn’t have any problems in Virginia so I think things are almost back to normal.

I’ve been so lazy the past couple days but I should go out since it’s sunny and 75 degrees. We won’t have too many more days like today so I better take advantage of it!

Have a great afternoon.

Margie

Hey Tony,

You shouldn’t be dissing cute little Chihuahuas! I think they’re adorable little dogs. Now, I can understand why a Lt. Colonel wouldn’t want one, however. I guess a German Shepherd or Pit Bull would be more to their liking! What I should do since I have your e-mail address is to find a picture of the cutest, littlest dog to send to you just to torment you! I’m just kidding, of course, but it is tempting…

Have a great day.

Is janice Megyn Kelly’s sister? They look alike!

Comment by Janice Dean

Wow Al. That’s a huge compliment! I’m not Megyn’s sister, but am flattered by the comparison! :D

Margie,

That would definitely be torture! You sure know how to go for a guy’s manhood!
I’m going to go wrestle my big cuddly dog now – catch you later.

Tony

Comment by Margie Gacki

Hey Tony,

You know I like you too much to torture you, but sometimes just the suggestion is enough to make one squirm a little! I hope you have fun with your big cuddly dog! I agree with Janice’s comment–I’d be afraid I’d sit on it or step on it if I had a Chihuahua!

Hey Janice,

I just took a walk outside and when I stepped out my front door, I got hit with a blast of warm air. We have brilliant sunshine and 77 degrees–my kind of day! I got a big shock when I walked down to the nearby convenience store. Usually gas prices will go up at least twice as fast as they come down. Well, just overnight the prices dropped by 20 cents to 3.099. When I left for Virginia on Monday it was at 3.399 a gallon. It’s unbelievable that the prices have dropped 30 cents a gallon in 4 days! I’m going for a car tune up tomorrow morning and after that I think I’ll take a drive out to Garrett County to take some more fall foliage pictures. At least I won’t go broke paying for gas! It’s nice that something is actually going down in price for a change! If I get any spectacular pictures I’ll send them in. It will be hard to match the ones from Skyline Drive, however.

I wish everyone a great afternoon.

Margie

JD,
Cute dog, but kind of wimpy for a testosterone filled house like mine. We’ve generally had Labs over the years. They make great dogs for kids. Now we’ve got 2 dogs. One is Rascal (our Jack Russell)—we call him a Jack Daniels cause he’s so laid back. Unusual for that breed of dog. Our other dog is a geniune Heinz 57 variety dog that someone was so nice to surprise us with. She just appeared in our yard one day looking lonely and in need of a home. (When you live in a rural area like we do, people sometimes just bring you little gifts—like their unwanted dogs.) Anyway, I believe she looked at our house and said to herself, “Yeah, this looks like the place”. That was about 2 years ago and she’s been with us ever since. Her name is Daisy. She’s a great dog, but so super protective of our house and family. If you ever come to visit, you’d better call first so we can let Daisy know we’ll be having company.

Hello, Friends.

We paid $3.01 at the local Walmart to fill up our truck last night here in San Antonio, the lowest we’ve seen here in quite awhile.

O.k., I’m having terrible flashbacks caused by the Chihuahua photo – when I was a little girl my babysitter had one, and it was MEAN, especially if you came in the kitchen when it was eating – those little bared teeth scared me!! Also, the hubby is a Lt. Colonel and would definitely not want us to have a “cute” little dog – he loves kitties!! Now, please don’t mention this to others, kitties are probably not considered manly either! ;)

Gwen, have a good time in my old stomping grounds. Please share a few pics with us when you get back, o.k.?

Man I’d hate to have one of those dogs do their “business” in a bag or whatever Paris Hilton or those types have purses I would guess mainly since you might not ever see a guy with one of those lol. Don I almost jetted off to Richmond when I saw $ 2.09 for gas. But $2.99 compared to Chicago last I checked here in the Western Burbs is still around $3.70 to $3.80 is a deal!!!! Ah yes Canadian Thanksgiving I once asked a friend of mine who lives in Toronto about that and she explained that it was the same as the Thanksgiving here in the U.S. But said she prefered the American Thanksgiving because its closer to Christmas. So a Happy Thanksgiving to you can’t forget about the football on that day. Unlike there no two teams are ever set for CFL games so no cities like Detroit or Dallas ever plan dinners around the game.

Comment by Don in Alexandria

There are 2 CFL games Monday afternoon!! Like every Thanksgiving Monday. Toronto is usually the eastern team and Calgaryi susually the western team that play on the day. Mainly, all the hockey teams schedule 2pm local time games. Spokane used to always travel to Kamloops for the Thanksgiving Monday game but after 6 straight losses, Kamloops looked for a new opponent. The Chiefs always did well on Thanksgiving Monday!! ;-)

Don,

Thanks for the clarification So Toronto would be the Detroit and Calgary the Dallas. Reminds me of Thanksgivings spent with my family usually I’m alone for the Lions game and then the family is usually over by the time the Cowboys game is on. And unless the Bears are in it the game is sound for those trying to stay awake from the trictophane induced tiredness lol

Hey Gang,

Since we got into a discussion on gas, I thought I’d share this great news. I went to a church women’s book club meeting this evening and that same convenience store that was selling gas for 3.099 this afternoon is now selling it for 2.999 this evening. I like this trend! At least it’s good that the right thing is going down–now if we can only do something about the stock market, which needs to head in the opposite direction!

Have a great evening, everyone.

Don from Richmond,

I’ll be signing books at Borders in Richmond tomorrow night from 6-9 p.m. if you care to
come out and say hi.

My editor and I are nailing down a topic for a new book guys. I’ll keep you in suspense until
it’s finalized. It looks like another hurricane rather than an earthquake or volcano book.

Best regards,
Tony

Where is there a Borders in Richmond?

Comment by Margie Gacki

Hey Don,

In case Tony is busy, I looked it up for you and the Borders is in Glen Allen. Here’s the info:

Tony Williams
Location:
Borders – Richmond
9750 W Broad Street
Glen Allen, Virginia
Starts at: 7:00 PM

If you’re around that area and feel up to it, you should stop by to see him. I notice Tony said 6:00 but the web site I found says 7:00.

Margie, I knew of the one in Glen Allen but none in Richmond. That might be the one he is talking about. That’s as bad as the Bass Pro Shop that just Opened in Ashland. Some call that Richmond. By the way this is some store and I had the best hamburger in there resturant that I’ve had in many years.
