Santa Anas should subside

Hey everyone!

A bit of good news for firefighters trying to contain several wildfires raging across Southern California.  High Pressure that has been parked across the Great Basin is now breaking down, and that should help calm those ferocious Santa Ana winds.  However, they are still going to deal with low relative humidity and warm temperatures across the region.  Red Flag warnings remain in effect until late tonight across much of the area.

A boundary across the Central U.S continues to be a focus for some heavy rain and or isolated thunderstorms today from the Great Lakes back through the Midwest and the Plains.  The rest of the country remains fairly quiet – ahead of the front – temperatures are warmer than average and some of us in the Northeast are enjoying a nice stretch of Indian Summer.

In the tropics, we have Hurricane Omar southwest of Puerto Rico.  Heavy rain will continue as Omar moves to the Northeast.  The storm will continue to move away from the U.S. over the next several days, and could strengthen into a Cat 2 hurricane.  Meantime, Tropical Depression 16 is just east of Central America.  Storm watches and warning s are up for parts of Nicaragua and Belize.   Paloma could develop at some point today, but will also not be an issue for us in the U.S.

Here’s a peak at Omar and TD 16’s path courtesy of www.weatherunderground.

And P.S. I skipped the deli this morning, and stuck with my favorite coffee cart at the corner of 47th and 6th! ;)

P.P.S. – Open blog is coming, I promise!  I forgot again yesterday!!  Pregnant lady forgets things a lot!

Hey Janice,

You don’t have to apologize for forgetting about the open blog. We know you have a lot going on. I’m not pregnant and I forget a lot of things so I have no excuse!

I’m glad your breakfast experience was much better today! It’s always a bummer when your day gets off to a bad start, so I’m glad things were better today. I had a nice breakfast this morning from the cafeteria–English muffin, bacon, and peaches–yummy! They make great bacon here at Braddock Hospital so I offset the not-so-healthy bacon with some nice and healthy peaches! Here we go again, talking about food! I do enjoy our culinary discussions on this blog along with everything else we talk about! I’ll have to see if there are any wacky food celebrations today and I’ll post those on the open blog if there’s anything interesting. We can’t forget to celebrate anything yummy. I know tomorrow is Boss’s Day so I hope everyone has a nice boss to honor.

Have a great day.

Hey Deb!

I kind of like the first greeting–I do try to be good! We’re supposed to get some rain tomorrow so we’ll see. It’ supposed to be partly sunny today but no one told the clouds that and the sun is nowhere to be found at the moment. The clouds are teasing us with a little drizzle from time to time. We really do need a soaking rain so hopefully that will come tomorrow.

I hope you have a great day!

Margie
