Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Travel forecast!

As we get closer to Turkey Day, I wanted to give you a peak at what the weather map will look like come Wednesday, as people are travelling to eat, drink and be merry with family!

You can see, all is very quiet across the Nation’s Midsection.  The temperatures shouldn’t be crazy cold and the only areas that could see travel delays are in southern California and the interior Northeast.

Me and my little Weather Intern will be working on Thanksgiving…(I’m hoping to take some time off at Christmas and New Years, so I’ve got to work one of the holidays!)  They usually do a great job here at Fox with the turkey and fixin’s!  I hope you guys will check in and keep me company that day at some point! :)

Janice…you and the blog will just be an iPhone away…

ADA working on a holiday I have a family member who is a 9-1-1 dispatcher and she prefers working on holidays for 2 reasons…
1) it gives those dispatchers with little kids the opportunity to spend it with them

2)Serious overtime benefits….double time and a half which can be applied to vacation time OR the paycheck depending on which she prefers….

Glad to hear that FNC does right by those who are working :)
Nice to work for a company that makes sure that it’s holiday workers have a nice of a working holiday as possible !

Comment by Janice Dean

Ahhh thanks Dawn! I always enjoyed working the holidays as well to let those who had families have those days off. My husband is the same way…I told him this weekend next year we will be one of those families, so that is certainly a different way of thinking!! And yes, the folks at Fox really take care of their staff. I feel lucky to work here! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well!

I have the watch on Thanksgiving day so I will also be working. I will have some fixins by myself later (Turkey Spam anyone?) as the rest of the family is heading up to the Grandparents. I’m used to that as I still work in an organization that works 24/7 as the bad guys don’t take those days off. Just like the military and public safety!

Love the doorknob story. What stopped hubby from going thru the door with a fire axe? I had this vision of you holding a doorknob and then cursing a blue streak that had your little one covering his ears (good old fashioned hockey cursing). Then I could see you walking over to a drawer, pulling out the old .44 and opening the door “Dirty Harry” style and leaving a large hole where the doorknob and lock used to be! :-) Hey! It’s my imagination! Remember the old saying Janice: “There is no problem that can’t be solved with the proper use of high explosives!” ;-)

My nieces roomates families live in those old “rustic” rent controlled places. When we moved one of them in the fall, we also had doorknobs and locks that fell out. We just took a scewdriver and removed the hinges of the door until we had all the things moved. Make sure you get a break from the landlord……yeah, right! :-)

Comment by Janice Dean

HA! Thanks Don – you gave me a much needed smile after that Doorknob ordeal. I have to admit, I think I would’ve reacted very differently if I wasn’t full of crazy mommy hormones! (and maybe even done the axe-work myself!!)

Hey Janice, you look really good today.

Hey Don! Thank you!! I’m starting to feel like a bigtime beachball, so I’ll take the compliments any time I can get em! ;)

I just read Alan Colmbs will be replaced at the end of the year. I’ll have to starting that show again then.

Comment by Janice Dean

I just heard the news myself. I really like Alan a lot — and I’m sure they will continue to keep him busy here at Fox as he is a very valued employee. He’s funny as heck as well!

Janice, you looked terrific on Fox News this morning!

So did Martha, wearing her school girl outfit. Did she have a large, gold-plated safety pin on her blue watch-plaid skirt?

Hey George! Thank you for your kind comment too! I didn’t catch Martha’s outfit past her pretty sweater…she always looks so nice though

I saw that just now myself and it was said they dont know f its going to be Sean Hannity flying solo or if someone would be brought in.

JD,

I’m sure it’ll be great working Thanksgiving. I might tune in for a bit but I bet I’ll be up early getting the house ready for the family.

Comment by Janice Dean

Hey Kelly! No worries! I know people have many many other things to do to get ready for Turkey Day! ;)

Hey Janice,

That’s a bummer that you have to work on Thanksgiving but if you get some extra time off around Christmas that will be nice. I’ll try to check in on the blog on Thursday. I’ll be driving my parents up to visit my brother and his family but I should be able to check in sometime in the morning before we leave.

It is so ugly here right now. It’s 3:50 in the afternoon and it’s looking more like 3:50 in the morning. I can’t believe how dark it got. I hope all that precipitation that’s falling is just rain because I have to drive over the mountain after work and it can be a fun trip if it’s freezing up there. I hope the weather is nice for all my traveling this week. We shall see…

Thanks for keeping us updated on the holiday weather. There’s a big sun over Cumberland and where my parents live so I hope that lasts for all the days I have to travel. Thanks again for keeping us informed!

Hey Janice,

I just want to add that I hope my Thanksgiving travel is better than my travel after work today. I had to go over the mountain and in this rainy weather it was quite an adventure. There was a little ice on my car when I left work but the roads I traveled on were fine. I got off the highway just before an accident somewhere west of here. There was a sign that the right lane was closed so something happened. I can’t believe people drive in the dark and rain with no headlights on. It just amazes me! Then on my way home I got stuck behind someone doing 40 mph in the 55 mph zone but when he got to the 40 mph zone he sped up to probably around 60 mph–go figure! I don’t know exactly how fast he was going because I don’t do 60 in the 40 zone even during the day in good weather. I made it home safely, thank God, and now I can relax and warm up a little. It’s ugly out there but the temperature actually has gone up a couple degrees to right around freezing. They were only off by about 14 degrees in their projected high for the day, but that’s life. We’re supposed to get some snow tomorrow so we’ll see about that.

Stay warm!

Margie

I should be able to check in – my guests are coming about 2 p.m. and football doesn’t start until around Noon so I should be able to keep it on Fox in the morning while I’m cooking.

When my husband was a brand new Captain and had his first Company command, he had some soldiers working at the military hospital on Thanksgiving Day, so he went over to check on them and I had him take a pecan pie I had made over to them. The following week, I went to the hospital pharmacy to get a prescription filled and the line was enormous. I sat down and settled in for a long wait, commiserating with several people sitting nearby about the long lines. About five minutes later I heard my name summoning me to the pharmacy window and a young soldier handed me my prescription and, seeing my puzzled look, said “Thanks for the pie, ma’am.” Sometimes good deeds are rewarded – even the dirty looks of the people waiting didn’t wipe the smile from my face! LOL

Loving the travel map, Janice, especially the “MILD” over Texas!!

Have a great evening, All!

My roommate is now beginning her second week at home recovering with her broken hip. In my new role as Nurse George, I gave her the tenth (and last) injection of Lovenox (prevents blood clots) yesterday in her “love handle” (yes, even my slim, trim roommate has a love handle!).

At least we’re not so squeamish anymore!

Now I’m about to make spaghetti in our “Paste N’More” maker that we saw advertised on TV. It allows you to make pasta in the microwave very easily in about 20 minutes! No more hauling out our big pasta pot and basket!

Be good to yourself, Janice! You looked gorgeous on Fox News today! I’ll keep you company on Thanksgiving, when I’ll be winging together our dinner.

My roommate’s a vegetarian. She likes everything but the turkey, so I’ll heat some turkey slices for myself and make all the rest for both of us.

Yeepee: I will be able to see you on Thursday Janice!!!

Although I’m still not sure if I will be brave enough to wake up and go out to watch the parade!

By the way, my friend who walks every year in the parade told me he already gave his special seating tickets to friends and relatives ( :( ) but he sent me a video about his training and this year he is waking with Horton the elephant – a new character at the parade this year, I think.
I love elephants!! – and although I am not familiar with this Dr Seuss’ character, it does look super cute!

But not as cute as…the Smurf (which I believe is also new) and who really looks AWESOME. :)
I felt bad but couldn’t help confessing my friend the Smurf really looked the Best! :D

I love all of your Thanksgiving anecdotes!
(Gina, yours just made me smile!)

Morning all!

JD—I’ll be watching for you on Thanksgiving morning. We’ll keep the tv on FOX. Our Thanksgiving feast is made by my mother-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law and me. We’ll make our portions at our home and then transport it and ourselves the 5 miles to mother-in-law’s home. She has been very ill this year (cancer), so we are especially thankful that she is still with us to celebrate this year. However, her cancer is in stage 4; and we are not sure what the next year will bring. We will gather and give thanks for all of our blessings, but most especially for the love we share in our large family.

Gotta love that Kermit! Little known fact: Jim Henson, the creator of Kermit and The Muppets, was originally from Mississippi. From up in the Delta—-Greenwood or Greenville, one of the Delta towns at any rate. The original Kermit was made from one of his mother’s old coats. Just some gee whiz information to start your morning.

Have a great day!!! ;)

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Janice. Do you know if your are having a boy or a girl? Names picked? We love Fox News and watch it regularly. I love Sean Hannity and maybe we can get on some Democrat Congressman, Senators, and Reps on with Sean since Alan is leaving. Sean can disagree with them just like he did Alan.
Gwen, have a Happy Thanksgiving with your mother-in-law and family. God Bless You and your family.
God Bless our Troops and Happy Thanksgiving to those who can’t be with their families. We know that they are wishing they could be, but also know that they have a job to do and our military are the best in the world. God Bless You and thank you for keeping America safe.

I am thankful for my health. I have had a bad back for over 5 years and many procedures but today I had my physical and I was in perfect health.

I am so thankful for my husband who is my knight in shining armor.

And I am so thankful to God that my children are healthy and happy and my one grandson is adorable. His birthday is the 4th and will be 12. Tell him Happy Birthday on the air. His name is Grayson Wynne, soon to be 12 and lives in Guinnett county here in the Atlanta area. God bless, Evelyn

Hi Janice, I just discovered your blog. It is cloudy here, you know November skies. Not to cold.
First, what a exciting time for you! Babies are cool!
We are going to Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving dinner. It has been a tradition for my family for
about 15 years. We always hear Alice’s Resturant on the radio on the way to the resturant.
I hope you and everyone has a fun and safe Thanksgiving. Most of all be Thankful!!
