Hey Bill,
I didn't post the reason behind the pictures because I felt it wasn't my place to say why you were there. My condolences to your family in this difficult time.

No I don't mind Margie.

We left Selinsgrove in central PA Friday (11-21-08) at noon to take Mom to her resting place at the family plot in Youngsville, PA, about 40 miles east of Erie, PA.

When we left Selinsgrove it was a pretty 3 inches of snow on the ground (the first two pictures). When we got to Youngsville at 5:00 PM there was 16 inches on the ground and an additional 14 inches fell over night. The second two pictures are from Saturday (11-22-08) after the funeral.

The circumstances made it a difficult Thanksgiving, but knowing what I learned I think Mom is in a much better place. Still doesn't make it easy to deal with though.

These photos make me so homesick for Chicago!

I remember Thanksgivings during my boyhood when the snow was three feet outside our home. I loved it!

Truly sorry for your Mom, Bill.
I'll keep her in my prayers.

Very nice pictures.
I want some snow now :)

and yes Dawn, you're right: the horse drawn buggy pict is beautiful.
Were they Amish people? or everyone is still using horse buggy in Pennsylvania?

Gwen I'm glad your Thanksgiving was a joyful family reunion!

Hey Gang,

These are beautiful pictures from Bill. The only problem is that he was in the middle of all the snow in Pennsylvania because his mom died last week and he was in Pennsylvania for the funeral. I hope he doesn't mind me mentioning this. That was crazy weather he got stuck in last week and I'm sure that made things harder. I do love that buggy picture, too. I got to see these pictures a few days ago so I'm glad he sent them to Janice.

Now I have to go make a cup of hot tea because these pictures made me cold!

I think I'll wait until tomorrow to tell about my adventures today because I'm too tired at the moment. I hope everyone sleeps well tonight after all the eating done today. I'm glad I came out of my food coma enough to drive my parents back from my brothers' place!

Hey Bill! Great to see these pictures from you. I'm with Dawn---the horse drawn buggy is my favorite. I'd love to bundle up and take a ride through the snow. Snow is a rare treat here. I know---many of you think I'm crazy for calling snow a "treat". Snow days here are real holidays!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I did get to watch a little of the parade this morning. (Guillame, Smurf was my favorite too.) I personally am so stuffed that I may not eat for at least a week---or maybe until breakfast tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'll change my mind by then. Ours was a wonderful Thanksgiving---very untraditional and very unlike any we've done since I married into the Walton family 33 years ago. I didn't even eat turkey or dressing this year. There wasn't a cranberry in my home. But it was a home filled with all my beautiful sons and most of my grandchildren. (God, please keep your angels about Melanie, Katie, and Carter as they travel back from South Carolina and grant them travelling mercies.) My heart is filled with joy for all of my blessings.

Must get back to Tony's book. I started it this afternoon and hope to finish it up this weekend.

Catch y'all later.
