Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Cold front means business!

Hi everyone!   Does this week feel as though its dragging, or is it just me?   Maybe it’s the weather…or the anxiety of the holidays…or wondering when my weather intern is going to make an official landfall!  :)

My husband was on duty last night for the Rockefeller tree lighting, and took a camera with him.  Once he sends the pictures he took,  I’ll post them.   It was crazy here in midtown yesterday as thousands swarmed in to see the tree.  I was tempted, but didn’t want to brave the crowds (or the chilly temperatures!) for fear of belly jams and frequently needed bathroom breaks.

In weatherland, we have a cold front slicing through the eastern third of the country that will bring rain and or snow depending on where you live.  The tail end of the front could bring a rumble or two across the Gulf Coast states.   Behind the front,  we’ve got some seriously chilly temperatures that will plunge as far south as coastal Texas.   Lake effect snow will also pile up in the usual areas – with some impressive snow totals expected heading into the weekend especially downwind of lakes Erie and Ontario.

The west remains pretty quiet for now with a system will moving in across the Northwest this weekend.

In other news, my office mate and good pal Jill Dobson has invited me to come on the Strategy Room today at noon.  She is hosting the hour, and mentioned I should drop by for a few minutes to talk about Celebrity Pregnancy/babies…we’ll probably talk about crazy baby names too, so if you want to drop in, you can log onto foxnews.com/strategyroom!

Ok, that’s about all for now!  I’m craving a huge cheese omelet with toast and home-fries.  Might have to place an order pronto.  :)

I may have to log in… I’ve heard some pretty crazy baby names, so I like hearing what other names peope come up with. The weirdest one I’ve heard (posted previously, but think the vortex got it) was ABCDE (pronounced Abyssidy) Why in the world would someone do that to their child? That poor little girl is gonna be explaining how to pronounce her name for the rest of her life!

and speaking of cheese omelet.. i had a craving for one last night and made one before i went to bed!! haha i normally dont like to eat before bedtime, but I didnt have very much for dinner (hubby cooked and he burnt it.. poor guy.. he tries so hard. Gotta love him! haha)

Janice did you have or are you having a baby shower? I just had mine over the weekend in Ohio. It was kind of early, but I dont know if I’ll be back home in Ohio before the baby is born since we are stationed at Quantico. I’d post a picture, but I dont know how to post pics on this board! anyone care to explain to me how to do it?

Wow. ABCDE is ridiculous! I never got my cheese omelet…I walked in there too late to order breakfast!! Maybe I’ll do what you did, and have it for dinner! Yes, I did have a baby shower. Jane Skinner and Jenna Lee threw one for me in October! It was great fun. If you click on the little icon on this blog on the upper right hand corner, it should step you through posting a picture!!

Hey Tracy,

It’s easy to send Janice pictures. To the right of the banner with Janice’s picture at the top of the blog is the link to use. You just click where it says “Send Janice your photos…” and fill out the information to submit your picture. You can only send one at a time so if you have more than one you’ll have to repeat the process each time. I hope that helps.

Hey Janice,

A cheese omelet sounds yummy! I didn’t have an omelet for breakfast, but I did have home-fries.

I hope you will post Sean’s pictures from last night. Since I never made it to NYC at least I can look at pictures. I decided to watch Rudolph last night and I didn’t even think of recording the Rockefeller Center show. I enjoyed Rudolph, though! Charlie Brown is on next week so I’ll make sure to see that. I forgot to watch the Grinch on Monday and I’m bummed about that. I haven’t seen that show in a long time.

It’s getting darker outside here in Cumberland. The rain is heading this way and will probably get here just in time for when I want to run an errand at lunch. The temperature went up 5 degrees overnight but that won’t last long when the front moves through.

I survived a trip to Wal-Mart yesterday evening. There aren’t too many discount shopping choices out here in the wilderness of Western Maryland so everyone flocks to Wal-Mart. It’s that much worse in the Christmas shopping season. I bought a bunch of baking ingredients so I can start my Christmas cookies this weekend. If it wasn’t for the price of nuts, baking would be much more affordable! I wish I could share my cookies with everyone but maybe I’ll send you a picture of all of them when I get them done.

Well, I see I’m approaching the character limit, so I better shut up. I hope you have a good day and I hope people are kind and considerate (which might be too much to ask for!)

I’ll post them as soon as he sends them. You know how men can be sometimes. It may be tomorrow or over the weekend! We’re trying to tape all the Christmas shows since it’s hard to remember all of them and what time they’re on.

thanks Margie! I must have just completely overlooked that link! Thanks a bunch!

Good Morning, Friends.
Margie, glad to hear you haven’t gotten brain strain trying to figure out insurance company methods and madness!! I asked my friend’s new husband, who works in a hospital too, for his thoughts. The only thing he came up with was that they don’t like huge bills coming in at once, so they want to spread out their payments. So basically I get to spend twice the money on gas as well as spending more of my time so they can control their weekly expenditures. Nuts!
We had our cold front come through last evening so now our lows are in the 30’s and highs in the low 60’s. I like it, I like a little chill in the air as Christmas approaches, it just feels wrong to see people in t-shirts, shorts and sandals on December 25!
Have a great day, All.

Janice,
Thanks to Margie, I sent you two photos. One is a cute picture of my little pom playing in the snow with an iceball in his mouth on thanksgiving last week in ohio and the other isnt weather related at all, it’s just a pic from my baby shower! haha! It’s just such an exciting time and I wanted to share my excitement! Hope you got them!

Oh great Tracy! I will go look for it! :)

We were supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow last night THANK GOD!!!! it was only a dusting maybe an inch? Although living through these times in Chicago. You either deal with it or move to warmer climates.

Comment by Janice Dean

Hey Kelly! I just checked – it’s 17 degrees with a windchill feeling more like 9 in Chicago right now!!!

Hey Tracy,

We send Janice plenty of pictures that aren’t weather-related, so that’s not a prerequisite! We like anything that’s cute/cuddly, scenic shots, food, or really just about anything! Janice is a sweetie and will post just about anything.

Hey Janice,

I forgot to mention before that my week is actually going by pretty quickly. That surprises me because I’ve felt lousy all week and things usually drag when you’re not feeling well. I think it might be the excitement of all my fun Christmas shopping I’ve been doing. I’ve ordered a lot more online this year because it’s so much easier than going out fighting crowds. Last night I made sure I bought all the correct batteries for the fun toys I’m giving my nephew for Christmas. I want him to have plenty of battery power to play with all his fun toys. I’m glad I’ve been preoccupied with shopping because otherwise I’d probably be feeling a lot more miserable. My stuffiness is clearing up a little but I’m still getting headaches, which are not fun.

My headache doesn’t seem to affect my ability to be long-winded on your blog this morning! Sorry about that–I’ll shut up now!

Have a great day everyone.

Margie

I know what you mean by on-line shopping! I did most of it that way, although in November my husband and I took a trip to the outlet mall which I love to do! Not as easy being 8 months pregnant though trying to shlep shopping bags around!

Good Morning Janice,

That omelet and home fries sounds so good..I love taters! (tater grin).

It is gloomy and rainy here today..temp is hovering around 42..but it is supposed to get real cold tonight..down in the 20’s. (insert me freezing).

No, it’s not just you, this week is moving a little slower than usual…I know you are anxious about your little baby boy coming..so that may be a big part of it.. I know everybody has something to say about having a baby..and you have been getting stories and advice right and left…but I want to add my lil 02…there is no love more precious than a mother and her child..you will understand what I mean when he enters this world..you think you love him now..wait til you see him and touch his soft sweet skin and his little hands and feet..and look into his eyes…you will be overwhelmed with love and joy.. (wiping away an emotional tear).

Have a great day JD..

Yep, that cold front made it through Texas. It was in the 30s this morning with a high of 55 today. BRRRRRRR. I hate this cold weather. And to top it off, my dad’s 75th birthday is today, and he wants (of all things) an ice cream cake!

I haven’t eaten today, so you guys are making me hungry. I didn’t get to eat breakfast yesterday until 6pm after being at the pediatrician’s office for 3 hours. Kyle has allergy triggered asthma and has to pop a 10mg. Claritin every morning. He also had to get 6 shots! (He earned 2 milkshakes for that…one with dinner from McD’s and one from Baskin Robbins after orchestra rehearsal last night.) Scooter is going back on Singulair to try to get his back under control. I can’t figure out why it’s gone crazy the last couple months, but it’s been horrible for him. I suspect that we may have some mold issues. That kept him in horrible shape until he was almost 5 (apartment management in denial). Call me selfish, but I’m just glad it’s not steroids. He was in ‘roid rage for the first 7 years of his life. I could physically control him back then. Now is a whole different story. He’s a lot bigger now. And Elizabeth’s ear infections cleared up nicely.

I’m almost out of space, so that’s it for now.

We have a wintery mix going on, snow and some sleet… so school dismissed an hour early.. I just got back from picking up my grandson. I don’t know if the snow will stick or what..I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. I had planned on going to Walmart later this evening, but I suppose I will put that on hold. Sure would hate to get stranded there.

Gosh we have strange weather here!!
