Northeast Mess…and there goes the wedding ring!
Good morning!
Today was tough getting in – not only with the weather, but rolling into work in general. Every part of my body seems to ache, and they may have to post my picture next to the definition of “waddle” in the dictionary. I think the final straw this morning was that this was officially the first day that I could not get my wedding ring on my left hand. I was a little sad…but I guess everything swells at this stage of the game.
I’m taking tomorrow and Friday off of work for Doctor Visits…and I think that might be it for standing at the Green Screen until the baby is born- I’ll keep you posted!
Meanwhile, weather weather everywhere! The Northeast is quite nasty with rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow depending on where you live, and where the temperature is hovering. Ice storm warnings are still up for parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Interior sections could see 6-12 inches of snow piling up. Meanwhile, the trailing cold front will continue to bring heavy rain and or thunderstorms across the southeast and midatlantic.
The Northwest is not catching a break either these day with another potent system prompting flood warnings for Washington and Oregon. High wind advisories are also up for the region, and unstable snowpack along the Cascades and Olympic ranges will bring extreme avalanche concerns.
The U.S. is not the only spot on the map getting socked with winter weather. Central Europe, France, U.K., and Italy are all feeling frigid temperatures, and seeing a great deal of snow in their forecast. Northern Italy shut down airports yesterday after heavy snow piled up in places outside of Milan.
It feels like winter is going to overstay its welcome this year!

Ok – that’s about all for now. A big belated birthday message to faithful blogger Jennifer! Hope you had a great day!
Take care everyone — especially if you have to do any travelling today across the Northeast or Northwest. Be safe!

Hey Janice,
I’m sorry you had such a rough time this morning. It’s good that you’re taking time off because I think at this point you need to rest–that’s just my uneducated medical opinion. I hope all goes well with your doctor visits. I’m keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Between yesterday evening and this morning we’ve gotten over an inch of rain. There was no ice on anything around my house but as I came up the mountain, it turned into a winter wonderful with ice all over the trees and grass. The parking lot had a little ice in spots, too. It wasn’t bad at all.
I’m sorry I was so grumpy on the blog yesterday. Things have been a little frustrating lately and I let that come out in some of my comments. Things only got worse last night with an e-mail that I got. Let’s just say I’ve come to one conclusion–I’m such an idiot. I won’t bother anyone with the details but I did learn a valuable lesson yesterday. Life is full of lessons–some of them unfortunately are rather painful.
But on a brighter note, I have to tell you my nephew loved his little Tonka fire truck I gave him for Christmas. He loved all the things it could do so I think he’ll be playing with that a lot. He was so adorable. He kept saying to everyone, “I wish you a merry Christmas!” He also sang “I love my mommy” & “I love my grandma.” My mother got such a kick out of him. He is such a cutie. I think of how much fun you’ll have with your son. Cherish every moment.
I’m out of room!
Take care,
Margie
Good Morning Janice,
I want to commend you on your dedication to come in to work so close to your due date..but I think it is a very good idea to take it easy from this point..staying close to home and lots of rest is Dr. Deb’s orders…if that counts.ha
The rain has finally stopped, and colder temps are here..it was 55 yesterday at this time..today it’s 35. And I think you are right about winter staying a few extra weeks…sad but true. IMO
I hope your Dr. visits go well…I will keep checking in for updates and chat. It won’t be long now Mama Machine!
Take care,
Deb
Morning….
My deck is covered in ice…but I think we are in a pocket of rain right now..
Hugs to you Margie…Hope today goes better than yesterday…sorry for whatever caused you pain/sadness…sending warm and peaceful thoughts…
Morning Janice,
First chance I’ve had this morning to check in and see what your status is. I certainly understand the swelling issue, but that’ll pass soon enough. Just take care of yourself and do what your doctor tells you to do. You’ll be fine! I know you’re a little scared…that’s normal. Lots of people will tell you birthing stories that make you even more apprehensive, but mine all went well. I’d do them all over again in a heartbeat if I could so choose. Be sure to tell Sean that he must be in the delivery room helping with the birth…even if it’s a C-section. It’s an experience that will bring you closer together than you could ever imagine.
Beautiful, sunny day in Meridian, MS today. First time I’ve seen the sun in about a week. We did get much-needed and appreciated rain. Had 2.75 inches at my house. But the sun and the cooler weather (48 today as opposed to 72 yesterday) really feels great!
I’ll catch y’all later!
Gwen
One more thing…
If you can hold off until January 17th, that was my Mother’s birthday. It’s also my brother’s birthday! And January 16th is my nephew’s birthday. Lots of January b’days to celebrate!
Gina ….saw your post in the other thread!! Glad to see you posting…
Yes post-operative time requires patience…
As someone with a bit of personal surgerical experience in her background I’m the first to admit I find surgery more often then not the easy part ….it’s recovery that can be the b I t ch..
No offence to anyone with the language choice just some raw and blunt honesty from my own POV
Janice….((hugs)))
It will soon be a memory. Baby will soon be giving you hugs that will make all the “misery” worth it!!!!
Hi Janice,
Just a note to wish you, your husband, and Junior all the very best! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog since the beginning (though I’m not one to usually comment!). I can’t give you any childbirth advice but I hope and pray that all goes well for you. Take care of yourself and best wishes!
Hi Janice,
I just caught your segment on the Live Desk when Trace came to you for the weather update.
That was a very kind and considerate gesture on everyone’s behalf to come to you sp that you would not have to go to the green screen.
In my opinion that demonstrates a great deal of class on the part of the Fox News Channel.
Janice….I caught it too….:)
What Bill said….I’m glad you are being taken cared of by bosses and colleagues alike….
JD, thanks for the birthday shoutout! It was a great day.
One other piece of advice: teething diapers need hazmat suits. They can get really bad. I’ll spare the details, but Elizabeth’s first one is going to require 3 loads of laundry and a call to the pediatrician to see if we can up her prevacid temporarily.
And don’t feel too bad about the wedding ring. Mine came off at 6 weeks because it was snug. I would have much rather taken it off myself rather than have to have it cut off.
JD, all the aches, pains, un-lady-like grunts and waddles will be totally forgotten the minute that lucky little boy pops out!!
It is sooooo worth it all!
Won’t be long …..
Oh, I forgot………….it’s a glorious 62 degrees at my house!!! Got all the doors and windows open….hehehe
