Hey Janice,
Reading this makes me glad I don’t live in any of these areas! I think I’ll be happy living in Western Maryland. So far all we’ve had is a little ice every once in a while but it melts quickly. We really haven’t had much snow here. Now, further west in the higher mountains of Garrett County there’s been plenty of snow, but they can keep it up there! I don’t mind a couple inches at a time but anything more than that makes for fun travel on the hills of my fine city. There’s still plenty of winter left, so we’ll see.
I hope you’re staying nice and toasty warm up there in NYC.
Margie
Ah but I live right in the path. I’m hoping that it stays to the North and hits Wisconsin and extreme Northern Illinois. Another day of snow blowing. When does it END!!!!!
The Blizzard of ‘09
Oh, to be in Chicago now that it is January!
What should Chicagoans do during the blizzard? Bundling is good. So is “The Hustle.”
I know Janice Dean “The Weather Machine” knows how to do “The Hustle” — and many other cool dance moves.
So does Judson Laipply. Click here to see Judson dance!. Or, just click my name above!
After Janice has had a few months to adjust to her new status, I’d like to see Janice and Judson do “The Hustle” and a few other moves right here on Fox News!
How about you?

Hey gang. This is totally off topic, but wanted to report the news. An Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed on the A&M campus a little while ago. FNC hasn’t picked it up yet, but the local affiliate is CBS, so that’s not too surprising. KBTX (our local station) is reporting one fatality, 4 injured.
What’s really lucky about this is that the field that it crashed in is right across the street from the southside dorms. I forget exactly how many there are, but I’m guessing close to 20 dorms over there.
George!
That guy was good!! I’ll be our JD could hang with Judson for awhile. I know I’m way past being able to do the majority of those moves.
That’s the biggest chuckle I’ve gotten all day!
All of you in the path of the of the blizzard…bundle up and stay warm. I think we’re supposed to drop down to the mid 40’s for tomorrow. Later in the week, we may even have lows in the teens!!! That’s a rarity!
Catch y’all later!
Gwen
Thanks Gwen. I dont know what this does for work tomorrow. They are pretty good about me not coming in but then again being 2 blocks away might have to break out the blower and do the entire block LOL!
As long as we can get all the real cold snaps in before we fire up our first greenhouses…if we can keep our heating oil costs down all the better for us this coming season considering the economy..
In the mean time my neighbors picked up two cases of logs for me and the girls…so we is all set…
Hey George,
Great video! Like Gwen said, he’s good! He has quite a repertoire! Hey Gwen, I could never do those moves at any age! I think I’d hurt myself if I tried!
Thanks for the link, George–it was a lot of fun!
Margie
Just watched local weather…the high on Fri is suppost to be…*9*…
the lows will be in the negative..
But then it suppost to go back into the 20s….
Hi all, WoW must pass this weather along to some people who don’t get to catch the news too often. It is supposed to get very cccccccccccoooooooooolllllldddddddddddddd here in the OV.
Hey gang. It’s not too cold here yet. That comes later in the week. We’re looking at low 20s at night.
In regards to my post earlier, it turns out that the one fatality was a good friend of ours. I’ve already told Kyle, who didn’t take it well. I’m dreading telling Scooter because he’ll probably lose it. I’m crying and typing at the same time. Zach was an all around good guy, and you just don’t find too many of those any more. He had just graduated from A&M and was commissioned as a 2nd LT in the Army. Please pray for his family and friends.
Thanks, Gwen and Margie, I’m glad you liked Judson Laipply’s “Evolution of Dance” videos.
I saw him for the first time on “The Today Show” this morning. When Matt Lauer said that Judson’s videos had so many hits on YouTube, I searched for him there.
Judson is a dynamite dancer! Here’s the link so other can see him, too:

Hey everybody…
I talked to a friend of mine today that lives in Northern Illinois…he said there is already 9 inches of snow on the ground, so that will make a huge pile when that other 4-5 inches fall. I am soooo glad I don’t live there anymore…I like these mild Tennessee winters…we complain when there is 2-3 inches of snow and temps are in the teens.
It has been sunny and chilly today…temps in the mid 30’s.
Jd…I hope you are resting well and drinking lots of chocolate milk..
Have a great evening everyone! and Stay warm!!!
Deb
Jennifer,
I’m sorry about the loss of your friend. I will keep everyone in my prayers. I saw a picture of the helicopter crash on the news earlier and I’m just thankful it didn’t hit any buildings. It was bad enough but it could have been worse. Like I said, I will be praying for everyone involved.
Hey everybody,
This is for all those who think lows in the 20’s are cold temperatures. From Wednesday through Saturday our high temperatures are not expected to get out of the 20’s and on Friday it will only be 19 for a high–yikes! I don’t think I’m going to like that!
Have a great evening everyone–and stay warm!
Margie
Jennifer,
I am sorry about your friend also…I just reread all the post.
I will pray for his family and friends. My sincere condolences.
Deb
Good news for us Iowans. All Iowa counties covered by the NOAA office in Des Moines have been dropped from the blizzard warning. We still have a winter storm warning. The blizzard never really got going.
Thurs. high in Mason City, IA, predicted to be -3. BRR!
Much as I hate it, this winter is like the ones I remember growing up here.
I’m a little jealous of the snow and remember with some longing the moderate and fun snowfalls
we had in Columbus, OH when we lived there. That was before kids and we romped around in
our woods and the neighboring farm with our lab and then chopped wood and shoveled snow in the
cold finished off by some hot chocolate. Lots of snow days when I was a teacher. Oh, how I loved
them. An unexpected day of reading by the fireplace or going out for a mocha once the roads
were cleared. I remember many an afternoon spent at Caribou Coffee one of my favorite
coffeehouses in Columbus.
Alas, we love living in Williamsburg and have children now but much less snow. I think it’s easy to
be nostalgic for snow from afar. Of course, five inches of snow would probably shut down Williamsburg
for close to a week since they don’t really plow snow. If God put it there, let Him take it away, seems
to be the reigning viewpoint.
Anyway, stay safe if you’re in the path. I think we’re just getting the cold as the week progresses.
Good night,
Tony
Deb and Margie,
Thank you for your condolences. We’re a little better today. Scooter (as predicted) really took the news hard. He fell apart durning the 6:00 local news when they devoted the first 10 minutes or more to the crash. I’m waiting on a call from a friend who works with the grief share group at church to see if that might help him. Zach was one of his closest friends (in spite of the age difference, if that says much about Scooter). He was a mentor to him. Scooter really enjoyed hanging out in the dorm with Zach when he was in the Corps of Cadets (finishing his time there last May). Scooter would listen to Zach, when he wouldn’t listen to his parents (since we know nothing). Luckily, he has a lot of family and friends around who love him and will get him through this.
Time to get things going. Elizabeth is finishing breakfast with Daddy, then I’ve got to get the boys going on school. They compete in spelling bee this weekend.
One other thing that the news may not be reporting.
I can say from having gone to school at A&M and living here, it is very fortunate that this happened when it did. Had it happened when school was in session, it would have been much worse. The field is widely used for rec sports as well as guys just going and tossing footballs around.
The field where the accident took place is adjacent to one of the largest parking lots on campus, which serves the southside dorms. The dorms are across the street. There are around 20 dorms, the previously mentioned parking lot, southside garage, and the Aggie Band drill field, and Duncan Dining Hall on southside. There is also a campus bus stop. (The campus is so big and spread out that they have a shuttle bus system to get students from one end of campus to another within the 20 minutes between classes. (Irrelevent, but the busses also run off campus to help with the parking problem.) You can find campus maps at http://www.tamu.edu. (Hopefully this won’t get sucked into the vortex.) The crash happened at Duncan Field.
Jennifer,
Thanks for the link. That university is the size of a city. Actually, after checking out the web site, the student population is about twice the size of the city of Cumberland! I checked out the map and found exactly where the crash happened. Thankfully it didn’t hit any buildings. Thanks for sharing with us. I’ll keep everyone in my prayers and I hope Scooter is ok.
Take care,
Margie
Good Afternoon All,
We are having a few snow flurries here and there…temp is holding steady at 35. A very dreary day outside…but inside it’s warm and cheery..got some music on…watching Fox too…and doing some exercise..which isn’t really considered cheery…but needed… my hands weights are red….but would love to have some pink ones.
Jennifer..you are welcome and I will continue praying for all…and Scooter.
Tony…I still love your way with words…I go on a journey with every paragraph.
Have a nice day everybody…stay warm and safe.
Deb
This blog has been way too quiet the past couple days! I think we need a jump start here today. Hey Tony, we need you to give us another letter of the alphabet so we can think of fun things like we did last night. I enjoyed that! If we have to come up with “q” words that will be a real challenge!
Hey Deb, I love reading Tony’s posts, too. It’s great to have a writer on board! Our weather here is a little brighter than it was yesterday. It’s mostly cloudy but the sun occasionally makes a partial appearance to brighten things up a little. We’re supposed to get rain later this evening and then some snow showers or flurries. I’m just glad it’s brighter than yesterday. It was so dark in the middle of the afternoon that it felt like nighttime. That’s depressing! We haven’t had a really sunny day for a while so I’m longing for some nice blue sky someday!
I do have your medical word for the day. I came across this word while doing a literature search for a physician. I won’t even try to explain it, but here it is: lymphangioleiomyomatosis. That has way too many letters and way too many syllables for my pea brain!
I hope everyone has a great afternoon.
Margie
Hellloooo out there! Just stopping by to see if anything is happening in our blogging world. Yeah Margie, it’s really quiet these days. Being a payroll person, January is usually my busiest month. This one is proving to be no different. So I’m kind of darting in and out here lately.
Beautiful, sunny day…54 degrees. We too are bracing for the cold snap.
Tony, 1 inch of snow shuts down MS. That would be cause for closing down schools and declaring a state-wide holiday! Playing in the snow sounds like great fun!
Jenn, so sorry for the loss of your friend. Words are of little comfort, but I do extend to you and yours my sincerest condolences.
Must run now!
Gwen
Blizzard Schmizzard we got a few inches thats all. Got a mini vacation to Wisconsin coming up go there Saturday be back Sunday. Now its time for this snow to go away
Checking in from CT…local forecast is calling for a “deep freeze” (relatively speaking of course) for the next 7 days
Odd for us cause this is the time of year that we normally get what we call the January Thaw
Cha-chilly is the name of the game
All of you are too kind.
I had a back spasm at the coffeehouse where I write. I was sitting there (big mistake currently),
taking notes on my book, when suddenly I stood, grabbed my back in agony, and saw stars.
Within ten seconds, I was sweating profusely, my hands were numb, and I was trying to decide
whether to just lay on the floor. It somehow passed after a few minutes with people both
freaked out as well as very concerned for me. The girls gave me some ice water and their cell
phone. My wife was unavailable, and I raised my mother who came to either drive me to the
doctor’s office, urgent care, or the ER. I settled on walking to the doctor’s office less than 7 minutes
because I could not sit down in the car. A nice shopowner a few doors down walked down with
me, kept me talking, helped me walk, and then stopped and prayed over me when I arrived at
the doctor.
The doctor’s office on the other hand was a nightmare. I called at 10:00 a.m., and said I had an
appointment at 11:00 but would like to be seen sooner to help me decide on the ER or not. She
said they have an opening at 1:15. “But I have an appointment at 11:00,” I replied. She said, “We
have a lunch meeting but I can try to squeeze you in at 11:30.” “Am I speaking Chinese?” I asked.
“I have an 11:00 appointment and I’m walking there now.” I wasn’t seen until 11:45 – 45 minutes
late after they made sure they copied my insurance card and updated 3 pp. of information. Good
thing I don’t carry a
Tony,
I’m sorry you’re having such trouble with your back! I said a prayer for you after I read your post and I’ll keep you in my prayers. Try to rest as much as possible so you get better soon. Keep us posted on how you’re doing.
Take care,
Margie
Hi everyone, oh goodness Tony, sorry to hear about your back. I’ve had minor back problems before and can relate to what you must have went thru. I once slipped on some ice/snow a couple of years ago if your remember seeing the guys in Home Alone fly in the air and fall that was what happened to me, I got up, shook it off, my lower back (tail bone I guess) was sore anytime I sat or layed down, walking was fine, but to sit down in a car, you might as well kicked me in the head. Horrible! After 2-3 weeks it passed, just before it passed I could feel it twinzing (word? lol) once that happened I was back to normal.
Not sure, not being a Doctor but isn’t seeing stars sign of high blood pressure? Remember I’m not a doctor and don’t even play one on tv. (yet!) I’m open to offers to appear on House on Fox! Seriously thou Tony hope you’ll be feeling back to normal soon.
Hi all, weather wise here it was another -20 this evening 9pm aprox. My hand was damp and almost stuck to the door handle. Burrrrrrrrrrrr cold. Snowed under 2 inchs.
Jennifer, I was sad to hear about the loss of your friend. Noticed FNC had a clip of the news this morning. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and his family.
