Snow-covered Pandas!

China Taiwan Pandas

CUTE!  From our friends at the AP – these are giant pandas Tuan Tuan,  and Yuan Yuan helping each other out in the snow in southwest China’s Sichuan Province taken a few years back…

And from my comfy couch here at home, I hope everyone is doing well!   We just finished the first season of Mad Men.  I can’t wait til the 2nd season comes out on DVD, and looking forward to Season 3!    Definitely one of the best series I’ve ever seen.   It’s dark, incredibly well written and as addictive as the chocolate milk I can’t stop guzzling!

In weather news, I’m sure you guys are all aware and prepared for the major arctic blast we are going to experience across the Midwest , the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes and Northeast.  International Falls was -40 (eeek!)  this morning,  and NYC could experience  temperatures we haven’t felt in a decade!

And in weather intern news, my little guy should  be making official “landfall” sometime next week!    Still don’t have a name for him yet, and I think we’ll have to decide once he officially gets here.   My thoughtful, kind husband washed all the baby clothes yesterday, so we’re all set for him to move in when he’s ready!

Here’s a couple of pictures we took in Central Park over the weekend:

Talk to you soon!  :)

Hey Janice!

Great pictures! You and your little guy look like you had fun in the snow! I’m praying that all goes well for you and your precious little one, however he is delivered. The pandas are adorable! I love pandas!

I hope your post sparks some life in this blog. It’s been too quiet for me! I’m sure you figured out a long time ago that I like to talk! I’m trying to prepare myself for the cold blast of air that’s heading this way. I hear the wind howling out there now. It’s supposed to get pretty cold tonight, too, so with the wind I’m sure it will be lovely. I’m glad you have your DVD’s to watch on your nice cozy couch. Unfortunately, I have to work so I can’t stay inside when the weather gets really cold. At least it won’t be -40!

I think I’m going to make myself a cup of hot chocolate. I’m nice and comfortable now but that wind outside just makes me want something hot. I’m glad you’re enjoying your chocolate milk–drink all you want!

Thanks for checking in and hopefully it will bring things to life a little on the blog. Take care of yourself and your precious little one. God bless you.

Margie…….

Who you, like to talk???? HA!

By the way the official low in International Falls ended up at -42 and the high was only -12. As they say, better them than us. I don’t know about everyone on this blog, but here in Denver we got about 6″ of snow yesterday morning in about 2 hours and I’ve decided we need a bunch of Al Gore’s Global Warming just about now. Anyone else notice how little we have heard from that idiot since this winter has been rather cold, just like the “old days.”

Since I’m on a roll, did anyone hear that other idiot ex-president and peanut farmer, Jimmy “I have lust in my heart” Carter, go after Israel yesterday. He called them International Terrorists for what they are finally having the cojones to do what they must in Gaza? Does someone know how we can shut that idiot up?????????

For everyone in the North and East, stay warm the next several days.

Sunny

Hey Sunny!

I was just thinking about you today. It had been quite a while since you posted anything so it’s great to hear from you!

I’m glad I don’t live in Minnesota! I think -42 is a tad cold for me! Minneapolis had around -17, so that would have felt nice to the people in International Falls! The temperature here has dropped 10 degrees in the past couple hours and we had a wind gust of 36 mph. The wind chill is around 10 at the moment, so I’m glad I’m not outside. I have to work at the hospital on top of the mountain tomorrow so I hope the wind dies down before I have to go up there. When you walk between the hospital and the medical building that’s just across the driveway, it’s like a wind tunnel. I go in the diagnostic center entrance so I don’t have to walk as far in the wind tunnel to get to the main entrance. A couple times I’ve gotten hit by such big gusts of wind head on that my feet move but I don’t go anywhere! It is pretty funny sometimes! At least we haven’t had any terribly bad weather here in Cumberland. Garrett County has had plenty of snow but here it’s just been a little ice that has made things slick for a while but it hasn’t hung around too long. We’re bound to get hit by something sooner or later.

I hope everyone stays warm and dry wherever you are!

Hi Janice!!

These two little pandas helping each others are really ADORABLE!
I cant help thinking: what are they trying to do?
Probably trying to escape while nobody is watching :D

And your pictures in Central Park are LOVELY!
(and yet again you always look classy no matter what you wear, no matter the weather!)

Still can’t believe your little intern is almost there! yeepee that’s so exciting!!!

Is it true we’re going to have even more freezing temperatures in the Big Apple?!
I’m going to have to hibernate….after packing cheese and red wine in my igloo, of course!

Still haven’t watched Mad Men – although all my DVDs arrived!! I have first to finish watching Flight of the Conchords, a completely goofy and different genre…but hilarious series with an imitable duo made in New Zealand.
And I can’t wait for Lost news season to start already!! (told you, Lost is my weakness!!!)

Just saw tonight The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Much better than I expected. Different messages on many levels…

Hope everyone is doing well (especially you Tony with your back; and Jennifer, all my condolences for your painful loss…) and Margie, enjoy your hot cup of chocolate!

Hey JD, who’s the cute lady on the park bench? :) Rest up for next week and I know we all will be awaiting the news, the big news this upcoming week will be the little intern’s first appearance, not the news coming out of Washington, D.C.. If you give birth on the 20th Foxnews can really celebrate goodnews.

When I was a little boy in the 1940’s, my mother often took me to the Brookfield Zoo in the western suburbs of Chicago. It was about four miles west of our home in Berwyn. We rode the streetcar, another big thrill for me!

The Brookfield Zoo had pandas. Of all the animals at the zoo, the pandas were my favorite. One Christmas Santa Claus left me a giant stuffed panda.

In those days, we didn’t have a car. My parents and I went everywhere by bus, streetcar, or train. Union Station in downtown Chicago was only 14 minutes away via express train from the train station in Berwyn, and only 19 minutes away on a local. The train station was only two blocks from our home.

I sometimes wonder whatever happened to my panda and other stuffed animals and toys from my childhood. I supposed we gave them to my younger cousins and children in the neighborhood, but I don’t remember.

Janice, you look terrific in that winter wonderland!

I’m hoping your son will be born on January 19th, because I was born on September 19th, my father was born on Febuary 19th, and my mother’s father was born on March 19th.

But whatever day your son is born, I hope and pray that both of you are just fine.

Hey JD,
You look great!!! So does the little weather machine!!! Stay warm and comfy and be very careful out in the snow. Don’t fall down! Thanks for sending us these shots….Lets us know how you’re doing.

It’s cold here too! Tomorrow’s high is only supposed to be 38 blazing degrees. I think Friday may be a little lower. Now if it would just snow, I’d be able to send you a picture of me and all the grandbabies out making a snowman. Oh well! So much for that dream!

Mornin’ to all the other bloggers. Hope you’re all well, warm and dry. Must run now as today is payday! Yikes!!

Catch y’all later! ;)

Good morning everyone,

It’s nice to see that Janice’s post generated some discussion since it was rather quiet yesterday.

Hey Gwen,

I think 38 degrees would feel really good around here tomorrow since we’re only supposed to get up to 19! It got down to 18 this morning at my house (colder up here on the mountain.) It’s supposed to be 19 tomorrow and 11 on Friday, with lows of 7 and 10 those days. I don’t think I like that at all!

I hope everyone has a great day. Stay warm and dry wherever you are!

Good Morning!

JD…you look so radiant and happy! Your hubby is a sweetie…I can just picture him washing and folding those little clothes for his son. Precious! I am so happy for you and Sean! Take care, can’t wait for the Big News next week!

It’s cold here in my south…temp is currently 15..and getting down in the single digits tomorrow night. But no snow so far. Just a load of COLD!

Well it’s time for my daily dose of chocolate milk…maybe that will give me a much needed boost to accomplish something today.

Have a great day everyone, stay warm!

Good Morning Everyone!
JD, you are adorable in your pink hat and burberry scarf. So excited for you that baby boy Dean will be here soon. You will remain in my prayers as you and Sean await his arrival.
Seems like many others are in need of good wishes and prayer too! Tony, I read on the other thread about your back problems – sure hope you are o.k. now. Take good care of yourself, Friend! Jennifer, so sorry your family is struggling with the loss of your friend. I have several family friends with children attending school at A&M and am grateful as you are that the dorms and other community areas weren’t affected.
Guillaume, I join you in being excited that Lost is coming back soon – LOVE IT! One of my other favorites, The Closer, is also starting again soon as well, my DVR is gonna be busy!
Have a good day, All.
