Dangerous heat sticks around…

Hey everyone!

First off, thank you for all the great advice about what I can do about Matthew’s teething issues!  (Including the comment from Don  about how much alcohol mom should have when the teething gets real bad! HAHA!)  I did buy the homeopathic tablets that go under his tongue when things get really bad, but I haven’t resorted to that just yet.

Our buddy Don also provided a great link to AMAZING photos taken from the International Space Station of a volcanic eruption through the clouds!  Here’s the link, and one of the breathtaking photos courtesy of the AFP:

In weather news, the heat continues to be the lead story with records broken yesterday including Houston Texas which baked in 104 degree heat!  That’s just downright dangerous.  Heat advisories are still up for the Plains, the Mississippi River Valley and into the southeast.

Meanwhile, a system moving across Canada will affect the northern tier of the country as the cold front associated with the storm pushes over the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.    Strong to severe storms could erupt over the Midwest with the main concerns being large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

As well, I must post a link to one of my co-workers stories on FOXNEWS.COM since it deals with “climate change” and Al Gore (who we haven’t seen much of lately…but he’s back in the news today!)  Chad Pergram writes about how the former VP is meeting with House Democrats to make his plea for lawmakers to approve the “climate change” bill tomorrow…a little controversial to say the least,  and you can follow the story HERE.  What are your thoughts on this?

Talk to y’all later…I’m going to go grab a coffee and get set for my weather hit on Happening Now!

Good Morning,

Our heat situation has improved…the humidity is down, so it doesn’t feel as hot. So that’s a good thing. But over toward Nashville and the west of me, it’s still torrid.

That’s an amazing picture. Wow!

I hope lil’ Matt’s teething issues aren’t too uncomfortable for him…but there’s always that brandy Don suggested. (for you, of course) ha

Have a great Thursday,
Deb

Hope you have a great Thursday too Deb! Glad humidity is down today for you…that’s what really makes it feel awful! (not to mention ruining the hairdo!)

Good morning, Janice.
Good morning, All!!
“Dangerous Heat” is certainly an appropriate title for what’s going on here in San Antonio – I just took a look at the 7 day forecast and the highs are above 100 through Sunday, then we get a break with highs at 98 or 99!! :[ Right now it’s 10:30 am and 89 degrees, yikes.
Margie, I read on the other thread about your friend with cancer. So sorry to hear about that. You and I are at “that age” when we start dealing with more loss and sadness than we typically had to deal with in our younger, carefree days! My prayers are with you and with her and her family & other friends – she’s lucky to have you as a friend.

Hiya Gina! Yes, I don’t know how you Texans do it every year. It was one of the things I just did not enjoy living in Houston…the heat and humidity…altho no snow in winter was kind of nice…;)

Hey Gina and everyone,

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I was busy at work today and didn’t take time to post anything. Now that I’m home I can relax. I still feel a little dazed by what happened yesterday but since I was busy, the day went by quickly. When I got home from work today I had a message from my friend Susanna on my answering machine. Her pastor just died from lymphoma this week. He was in his early 70’s but it’s hard to lose a loved one at any age. Susanna lives relatively near my parents and on occasion I would go to church with them on Sundays. He was a great preacher and he wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is. He also had a great sense of humor. Now I’ll have to tell Susanna about my friend. This has been a really depressing week but I just keep in mind that God is in control and He knows exactly what He’s doing.

On the weather front–it’s hot!! Thankfully, not as hot as Texas and other areas but hot enough for me. Thank God for air conditioners! I had to water my rose bush last night since we haven’t had rain like we did after I planted the other one last month. I can’t believe how much that one has grown in a month. I will take pictures to share with everyone.

Now I need to get something to eat because I’m hungry. Have a great evening everyone.

Margie
