Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Happy 4th of July Eve!

Hi everyone!

I was up before the rooster this morning to do Fox and Friends weather.   I’m here until 2 today – on my second cup of coffee.

Thanks for all the great advice about feeding Matthew solids.  I guess mom should’ve picked a more “FUN” vegetable to start him with other than GREEN BEANS!  You’d think I would’ve picked something that I would actually enjoy eating!  HAHA.  The good news is my nanny tried to feed him sweet peas yesterday, and he seemed to like those, so I’m optimistic that he may start to like his veggies.  I went out and bought some sweet potatoes, squash and carrots yesterday to add to his repertoire.  So fun.

So what are you guys up to this 4th?  BBQ?  Pool Party?  Fireworks?  Tell me what you’re up to!  I’ve got to work tomorrow afternoon as well, so let me know your plans.

Weatherwise, I read that New York had the 2nd wettest June on record with over 10 inches of rain.  The northeast has been water-logged — however, it looks like we have some sunny days ahead as we head into the weekend and into next week.

It’s hot across the south with temperatures hitting the century mark with heat indices in the 105-110 degree range across the Arklatex into southern Mississippi.

Showers and thunderstorms could spark today and tomorrow across the Plains and into the Midwest, but I don’t think any one are will be a total washout.   The Northwest is also dealing with the heat this weekend with temperatures 10-15 degrees above average in some spots.

I asked my husband to take a picture of Matthew in his 4th of July finest this morning, so here is my little all-American boy for you to enjoy!

Hey Janice,
Your little guy is so cute! Although, he does look a little too serious in some of the pictures. Thanks for sharing more pictures with us–you know how we all love to see that little cutie!

Today, my parents and I are going out to lunch to Ruby Tuesday. My mom has a coupon and so we’ll be taking advantage of that. Tomorrow we’ll be heading over to my aunt’s house where we’ll see a number of her kids. I think my brother and his family are coming so I’ll get to see my niece and nephew for the first time since Easter. I’m looking forward to that.

I was late getting to my parents’ place last night. There was a traffic accident on the highway and traffic was a mess. Fortunately, when we crawled along far enough, I was able to get off at an exit that I was familiar with and I took a different route. I checked online last night and the accident was an SUV that lost control in a heavy downpour and crashed. That really doesn’t surprise me because I am amazed at how fast dopey people drive in the rain or any other bad weather. I’m surprised there aren’t more accidents. There were no fatalities or life-threatening injuries but they did get messed up a little. Maybe they’ll learn to slow down in the bad weather from now on.

Well, I haven’t had my breakfast yet and I’m hungry so I better get going. (That and I’m running out of characters!) I hope you have a great weekend even though you have to work.

Hi to everyone else out there! Have a great day everyone!

Matthew was pretty tired when Dad took the pictures. Literally 15 minutes later he was napping…so that’s why he’s a bit on the serious side.

Matthew already looks like “The Boss,” Janice! Hope he likes the fireworks!

On July 4th, I really get homesick for Chicago. Mexican Independence Day in September is a more popular day in here in L.A. than July 4th with far more festivities and parades.

In the early 1980’s, I was assistant director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Events in Chicago. We brought in the Grucci family from Bellport, Long Island to do our July 3rd, Venetian Night (August), and Labor Day fireworks displays. Those of you living in New York know how great the Grucci’s really are.

In Chicago, the Grucci’s spaced four barges filled with fireworks and equipment about a quarter of a mile apart along the city’s downtown lakefront. The barges were about a mile offshore. I selected the music. Butch Grucci, who ran the family-owned company, synchronized the fireworks to the music. The displays usually lasted 25-30 minutes.

About a million people lined the lakefront to watch the displays. We placed speaker towers along the way.

On July 3, 1980, Butch synchronized the display to the soundtrack of “Chariots of Fire.” Magnificent! All of the Grucci displays were terrific!

I really miss those days!

Hi Janice, you look so pretty today,as you do everyday. Matthew is such a beautiful baby! He has really grown, just wait until he finds strained foods he likes. My son didn’t like green beans at all, he still doesn’t,13 years later. He LOVED the spinach if you can believe that. Spinach, carrots, & squash. They leave lovely stains on the clothes,so I do recommend large bibs for him, & large towels for the spoon bearer. But it is so much fun seeing them give their opinion of things for the first time.
I wanted to wish you & the group a Safe & Happy 4th of July. Everyone enjoy your holiday hopefully with the family.

Hey Janice, thanks for featuring San Antonio during your weather report this morning. Your warnings about the high temps as relates to pets, children and the elderly were very important for our citizens to hear. I’m taking your advice – only went outside for about 5 minutes to get the mail and that was IT!!

I hope everyone has a blessed and Happy Fourth of July!! :)

Hey Janice,

No special plans for the weekend…just taking it as it comes this year. But there will definitely be food involved…and fireworks…or as some people around here call them “far-works”.

We have had wonderful and pleasant weather the past few days. Temps in the 70’s and very low humidity. and night time temps in the low 60’s. Wonderful for ZZZZZZZZZ’s.

The All American Boy pictures of Matthew are adorable. He is gorgeous Janice. He looks like Sean when he is holding him, and he looks like you when you are holding him, and he looks like his sweet little self when he is smiling at the camera by himself. You guys made a beautiful baby boy… :)

Have a great weekend y’all, be careful with them far-works!!!!

he’s so adorable! Mason has the same outfit and he wore it on memorial day! He has a baby’s first 4th outfit for today!!! every holiday throughout the first year, he wears a “baby’s first ___” outfit haha My hubby kind of rolls his eyes at me for it, but i think it’s cute! Are you taking him to see fireworks? I want to go, but I’m nervous that Mason will get upset with the loud booms, so we havent decided yet. We might just park somewhere on a hill where we can see fireworks, but not be in the middle of all the craziness!

Happy 4th everyone! be safe and have fun! thank a veteran! God Bless the USA!

Hey Tracy,

It’s good to see you back on the blog! I think the “baby’s first…” outfits are cute so just ignore your husband when he rolls his eyes! You’ll have to send in more pictures of that little cutie of yours. Janice did post one not too long ago but we all love baby pictures on this blog, so we want to see more!

Happy 4th of July to everyone out there! I hope you all have a great day today. I just checked our forecast and it looks delightful–sunny and a high of around 78–I like that! On this day that we celebrate out independence, don’t forget the sacrifices the brave men and women of this country have made over the years. Many of them lost their lives fighting for freedom. So, like Tracy said, thank a veteran today, but also thank those currently serving. I know on this blog we have active military and spouses of active military (who I will not name lest I forget someone!) I thank you all for your faithful service whether you are the military member or the spouse.

God bless America!
