Ida is a depression…October is Chilly!

Good morning everyone.  Came in to do Fox and Friends to cover Ida’s landfall, and am trying to stay awake since I have a bit of a sleepless night.  Matthew was up a lot, and I had a hard time getting back to zzzzzz’s  when I knew the alarm was going to go off at 3:30!  So I read a magazine and cleaned the apartment at around 2am!  Crazy.  Surprisingly, I’m doing ok, but I know the crash is coming soon!!!

So Ida is pretty much done.  The storm made landfall this morning on Dauphin Island, Alabama as a tropical storm.  It steadily weakened as it moved over land, but the rainfall is still pretty impressive over the southeast.   A widespread swath of 2-3 inches will fall from Alabama up into the Carolinas with some localized amounts of 8 inches still possible.  We could also see a few tornado warnings east of the center of the storm throughout the day.   What’s left of Ida is forecast to head offshore, and redevelop into a coastal low, however it doesn’t look like it will affect anyone in a big way as High Pressure moves into the northeast and keeps things quiet for the next few days.

In other news, the month of October was the THIRD COLDEST on record, and the WETTEST in the 115-years! ….Interesting….Hey Al Gore!  Take note, Dude!

Ok, off to get some coffee…and some cereal…maybe some toast…and bacon…HUNGRY!

Mornin’ JD and everybody,
As Pooh would say, “It’s a blustery day today.” Forgive me, “Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day” was one of my all-time favorite videos. Looks like the storm scooted just south and east of us. We’re getting some pretty good winds and it did rain heavily overnight, but nothing more than that. Things are a bit worse closer to the coast, but all in all not a bad weather event. Our two job sites are shut down until Wednesday…but we’re not expecting any damage there.

Not much else to add. Oh yeah, there’s that birthday thing that comes around on this day every year. I’m trying to not think about it too much. 39 really isn’t that old, though, is it???? At least I can say that Ida came to visit me on my birthday.

Gotta run. Catch y’all later!
Gwen ;)

Hey Gwen,

Happy birthday! It was nice of Ida to visit you on your birthday! I was thinking about you this morning and wondering how you were affected by the storm. I’m glad things weren’t too bad.

It’s gray and chilly here in Cumberland. There’s a slight chance of a shower this afternoon but nothing to worry about.

Hey Janice, Al Gore came to mind when I read that October was the 3rd coldest on record! We had a wet month, too. I think we got almost 5 inches of rain during the month.

Hey to everyone else out there in blog land! I hope everyone has a great day today and that the weather isn’t bad wherever you may be.

I better get back to packing. I need to get done at Memorial today so I can do Braddock tomorrow. How fun!

Have a great day everyone and Janice, I hope you enjoyed your breakfast!

As always you looked great today, you would never know how many of hours sleep you are operating on, must come from being married to a fireman with all their crazy hours.

How is Matthew coming along with his big people food, since you let him try different things.

Weather in San Marcos is as good as it gets……we are very blessed to live here.

Just got a new laptop and am enjoying being wireless in the house anywhere I roam.

Hey Clare and AJ! Thanks for the nice words. Like I’ve said before, hair and makeup staff are the ones that make us all look good! :) Matthew is doing well – eating quite a bit now, and likes his veggies and fruits. He doesn’t sleep too well though. He shares a room with mom and dad, and likes to wake up and stand up in his crib as if to say “what am I doing in here? I want to be in that bed with you guys”…which of course we end up doing! :)

Hey Janice,

I saw you this morning on F&F. I hadnt seen you in about a month. You look great a usual. Well we finally got some snow the night of the 8th and morning of the 9th. We should get a few more inches today. Then on the 15th if things keep together like they are showing we might get at least a foot or so. I dont mind the snow. This is what the fall/winter is supposed to look like. We took Allison out yesterday and today and she loves the snow. I was like she had always known and played in snow.

Well take care.

When is your blog going to look like Ricks?

Comment by Janice Dean

Hi David. Thanks for checking in! You’ll have to send us pictures of Allison in the snow!! How exciting. I can’t wait for Matthew to experience it. As for the blog, I know they’re making a lot of changes to the look and location of what we write, so I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough! :) I’ll keep you posted as best as I can!
