Don’t fool with Mother Nature!
Interesting article out of China…with some debate on their recent “artificially induced” weather…
Check it out HERE

Snow-covered bicycles are seen parked along a street in central Beijing, on November 10. Chinese scientists artificially induced the second major snowstorm to wreak havoc in Beijing this season, state media said, reigniting debate over the practice of tinkering with Mother Nature.

Didn’t China seed the clouds for the Beijing Olympics to prevent rain during the games?
Glad I kept a nor easter yellow rubber suit from my boating days. Between the wind and the heavy rain an umbrella didn’t work walking Rolex this morning. I felt like big bird.
This past week I had to remove the transmitter for my weather station. The entire complex was power washed and they started to paint. I probably should have put it back up while this rain is hitting us. Local station is saying 6 to 8″ total by the time it’s over sometime tomorrow.
Hey everyone! Been busy, busy, busy promoting Hurricane of Independence and working on my
next books. Just last night I lectured to a DAR and joked how appropriate it was to tell the story
of a hurricane hitting as we get absolutely pounded by Ida.
The wind has been blowing fierce pretty much nonstop and getting several inches of rain per day.
I can imagine how bad it is at VA Beach since we spend a lot of time there. Many schools and
military bases have been closed except for essential personnel.
We are having gusts that I would estimate in the 40-50 mph zone right now. A lot of the damage
is being compared to Hurricane Isabel that occurred two months after we moved here. People
were cleaning up for weeks and months after that.
No joke.
Have a great day!
Tony
Hey Tony,
It’s good hearing from you! I figured you’ve been busy with all your book projects. I hope you have a life boat handy in case the water rises where you are! Be careful when you’re out and about.
Hey Don,
I wish I could have seen you in your yellow suit! Umbrellas and wind don’t get along too well so I’m glad you had something to wear. I hope Rolex is coping well with all the rain around.
We did not get one drop of rain from Ida, at least nothing that I saw or that registered in my rain gauge. It’s been cool and windy but no rain. That’s a good thing since I’m moving today. The radar indicated that there was a little rain around but it must have evaporated before it hit the ground. We were right on the edge of the heavier stuff.
Hey to all the other bloggers out there! I just thought I’d check in this morning before I have to shut my computer down for the move. The movers are supposed to come sometime after 1:00. I’m pretty much ready for them but I have a couple little things to do. It is really depressing in here because with everything packed up in my office, every noise I make echoes. The walls are bare and it’s a sad thing. However, I’m moving into a nice space with a big window so that will be really nice. I’m looking forward to that!
Well, I better get going and finish up the things I need to do. I’ll catch you all later!
Margie
Thanks, Margie,
Probably no boat necessary for me but I can’t say the same for the poor folks in VA Beach or
Norfolk! I’m probably just going to stay dry and inside today. Not much sense going out today.
I’ll write by the fire with some hot cocoa. You are definitely correct that umbrellas are pretty
much useless and will only be shattered by this weather. My car was hydroplaning a bit on the
highway last night, so we need to be careful!
Regards,
Tony
Yes Tony,
I just saw on the news cars in Hampton with water half way up the windows. My guess is Virginia Beach will have the same storm surge.
Morning everybody!
Beautiful weather here after the storm passed through on Tuesday. We’ve had bright blue-sky days…but very, very breezy…and much cooler. Day-time highs have been mid to upper 60s, but I think we’ll be warming up slightly for more rain by the first of next week. I’ve really enjoyed these past few days…my kind of weather.
Margie, hope your move goes well! Take it easy and don’t overdo or you might hurt yourself lugging around heavy boxes, etc.
Tony, good to hear from you. Congrats on all of the success you’re having with your book. That hot cocoa by the fire thing sure does sound good, too.
Hello to everybody else!
Gwen
